George Clooney was in weekend wedding mode – but not yet his own. Still, his new fiancée joined him for the fun.

The actor, 52, took a private jet to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with his bride-to-be, Amal Alamuddin, on Thursday.

Sources tell PEOPLE the trip was to celebrate the wedding of Clooney's longtime pal, actor Thom Mathews.

It's not the first trip to the celebrity hot spot for the globe-trotting couple, who also visited the area during the holidays last year, along with close friends Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford.

This time around, we know just how Alamuddin accessorized her beachwear: with a certain dazzling sparkler.

Ah, this is the friend who now owns a construction business in Van Nuys - wonder if it was him at the airfileld and not Ben Weiss - maybe they all went down together..........

hey were spotted for the first time since getting engaged on Thursday, while boarding a private jet.
And it seems that George Clooney and his new fiancée Amal Alamuddin were in fact off to a wedding – although not their own just yet.
According to People, the movie star whisked the 36-year-old lawyer off to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

They were there to witness the nuptials of his close pal and fellow actor Thom Mathews.
The website reports that the couple also joined his famous friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber at the holiday destination over Christmas.
While he is known to wine and dine his girlfriends, George, who turned 53 on Tuesday, kept things refreshingly low-key for his proposal.
Page Six claims that the Monuments Men star popped the question from the comfort of his mansion in Studio City, California.

'George cooked a meal himself for Amal at home on April 22, then he surprised her by getting down on bended knee and presenting her with the ring,' a source said.
'He was so happy she accepted, he was calling friends with the news later that night,' added the insider.
George apparently presented Beirut-born Amal with a 7-carat emerald cut diamond ring with a baguette on each side of the main stone, that he helped to design himself.

A source has told MailOnline that it won’t be long before the pair tie the knot.
The couple, who were introduced at a charity event last September, are planning on making the one-year anniversary of their first meeting their wedding day.
‘If all goes as they are planning, Amal and George will be husband and wife within less than five months,’ reveals a family friend.
One thing the pair are apparently yet to agree on is how big their Big Day will be.

‘George doesn’t want a huge to-do, but what he doesn’t really understand yet is that a “small” wedding for a Lebanese family is around 200 people,’ laughs the friend.
‘I think they will end up having a smaller wedding than Amal’s family expects and that will make a lot of the Lebanese relatives unhappy.’
George’s parents have gushed about how much they ‘love’ their future daughter-in-law and even his famous friends are delighted to see him settle down.
'I'm just thrilled that he met Amal and that they're as happy as they are, He deserves it,’ Matt Damon gushed.

I'm with it's me more than 23 on each side. There's a secondary table at the end that is on a lower level and by the time you get there I counted more than 23 before the end of the first table!

I don't think it will be a Casamigos wedding too small for that.

Yeh about 23 on each side plus the additional table which has no seats at it, just place settings

possibly the picture was taken during the work in progress. Not all the settings have the little hats yet either.

Oh well moot point really. This already happened correct? Food's all eaten, everyone has gone home, Mr. & Mrs. are probably off on their honeymoon!
