For all German (plus surrounding countries):

I just saw that there will be a documentary about George on German VOX TV tomorrow, thursday, at 22.35 h MESZ. Seems to be about his life and how he became the superstar he is.

I'm going to tivo it (just found the word at a translation site) and also watch it. Anybody else?

Lucky you! Enjoy it for all of us who won't get to see it. Is there any special reason for them showing this now?

Documentary about George on German TV Empty Re: Documentary about George on German TV

Post by carolhathaway Thu 20 Aug 2015, 09:48

Lizzy,
I don't think there's a special reason why they air this documentary today. They aired the Ocean's trilogy during the last few days so maybe that's why...

I just hope it's a good documentary. Some months ago there was a documentary about bodyguards where George was mentioned - besides lawyers, journalists and agents who investigate against the mafia in Italy. And George was mentioned because paparazzi follow him im Laglio and try to catch him wherever he go es.  I felt that was unsuitable because he others risque their lives to catch criminals and on the other hand there's George who is "just" a celebrity. And nobody who's involved said anything, there were just some paparazzi and people from the area who were interviewed.
I felt that - compared to the others - this was really omproper...

So I hope that tonight's documentary will be better.

I'm wondering if this is a new program put together by German tv, or if it is a rebroadcast of an earlier program with some more recent footage added on.

Either way, enjoy. I hope it's worth your time and doesn't disappoint. Smile

WWHS - Very Happy It would never have occurred to me to google German tv, but because of you I did. I just spent a couple of hours watching a program where I understood maybe 1 word in 20 - maybe! It was fun seeing all old the clips they had of George with his family and on tv. This looks like a really interesting show- too bad it wasn't in English. Maybe someday they'll release it with subtitles! Very Happy

Yes I watched it today. I was surprised that they got an Exclsusive Interview with Dedee Pfeifer and Elisabetta Canalis to talk about George. They didn't say really something new but dedee said that George is for sure a guys guy and he needs his friends to go out with. That George is real and you get what you see and that he is a GOOD KISSER  Love4
Elisabetta was saying that she wanted a Family and she didn't like to travel anymore for 3 month to Italy to work. And George is used to it to be away for few month to shot a movie but she wanted something different.

Also they mentioned that during the Ocean movies George and Rande wanted to open an Casino which didn't happen until now.

And of course they talked about his different movies and the bad once and then the successful once the last years.

They also interviewed a German actor who played with him in "The good german" and he described the Moment when he was rolling on the floor to get dirt on his uniform for his Scene in order to look real. George heard about it and asked him where was the spot where he was rolling on the floor to get the dirt on the uniform. The German actor showed it to him and then George went down rolling in the dirt too and when he got up he told the german actor "now we look the same". hehe. George wanted to make sure they look the same for the Scene.
The German actor was also saying when George came to the set he heard him talking to Brad Pitt and saying something like to Brad "oh wait Matt is on the other line" the german actor felt very Special when he heard all that.

They were talking about his political Engagement with Sudan and so on and of course about Amal and the "quick" wedding.

And the new house they bought in the UK. the owner of the Pub said she met George first time he came to welcome him and he was saying to her he wantd to live here like a normal Person and that he hoped the paparazzies will not destroy it.

I can't remember more at the Moment. Maybe Carolhathaway remembers more.- Laughing

I liked the docu

Documentary about George on German TV Empty Re: Documentary about George on German TV

Post by carolhathaway Sat 22 Aug 2015, 21:27

Nicky80,

I also quite liked the docu. For me they focussed on his love life too much and didn't talk about his work enough. I mean, they didn't even mention that he also writes screenplay and produces movies as well which is an important part of his work I think. At least they included some recent interviews like the one with Charlie Rose. They mentioned the fact that Brad and Angebot didn't join George's and Amal's wedding a few times and implied the fact that Sandra Bullock also didn't join as a proof that Sandra felt more than just friendship for George and was disappointed. They also mentioned a few times that George could run for office and also mentioned that he always denied it but they still believe it. This isn't respectable journalism as I understand it. They also got some facts wrong but that wasn't anything important. All in all I enjoyed it.

I just missed something:
They implied that Brad and Angie didn't join the wedding  because Angie and Amal don't like each other. This was just a rumor which was never confirmed.

yes true. They mentioned a lot that George and Brad are best friends and that it was strange he wasn't at the wedding. And when they mentioned Sandra Bullock and implied she is in love with him that's why she didn't come to the wedding, I was like WTF.....
I liked the part the German actor talked about George. This was interesting.

Oh and I just remember that a tabloid journalist was at the Soho in Berlin as well when George was there and when he used the Hotel Restaurant everyone was always watching him because he has this Aura....

Carolhathaway,do you remember this German woman who said she met George at the bar in the Soho Hotel and went to him and asked "Can you get me a glass of wine instead of a Nespresso"...trying to be funny...and George got her a glass of wine and then she left and didn't think of it to pay for it. That was stupid. Wonder how many women come up to George and ask "Can you get me a drink".....that's so cheap...

Yes Nicky80,  I watched "Who want to be a millionaire" where she told this story before. She thought she had made an original remark and I just thought "Do you really think you were the first woman who ever asked him this question?"
I would have liked if they had interviewed people who actually worked with George regularly like Steven Soderbergh or Grant or one of the boys.

Thanks Nicky and carolhathaway for the rundown. Sounds more like a tabloid style quasi documentary. Lots of talk of the headlines we read last year that just weren't true. But sounds like it was fun to watch. Thumbs up!

Nicky and Carolhathaway - Thanks for taking the time to discuss the show for us. I think I got more of it than I realized! Very Happy I was wondering though, who were the two reporters they kept going to? The man appeared to be reporting from the US at one point and the woman seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about George. Are they entertainment reporters for a tv show or magazine in Germany?

Lizzy,I don't know them. It was said that they both are reporters on entertainment programmes. The man has interviewed George and Stacy once at the Golden Globes (red carpet) and the woman said she meets George regularly when he's in Berlin. She Referenzen to one talk they had at a hotel bar. But I don't watch those programmes so I don't know them.

Documentary about George on German TV Empty Re: Documentary about George on German TV

Post by carolhathaway Sun 23 Aug 2015, 00:28

One thing from the docu I liked was that they interviewed George's German voice. This actor normally doesn't sound a lot like George and he said that George acts so effortless that he speaks quite fast. So it's not easyJet for this German actor to speak like George because otherwise it wouldn't sound real. He also said that his "George voice" is higher than George's voice because German is quite a hardlangsame when you speak. He used the sentense "I love you, babe" and said it in English with a deeper voice similar to George's voice and than said it with the same voice in German. That didn't sound sexy or great at all. Than he said it with his "George voice" in German and it sounded better. Maybe it's because we're used to his German voice but George wasn't Show while he said this so there was no connection.

Anyhow, I prefer George's real voice and the timbre...

Yes Lizzy they are entertainment Reporters.

The one Reporter from the US is Frank Fastner. He is German and works for RTL and he is based in LA. He works for RTL in LA nearly 20 years. He goes to all red carpets since 15 years and does all the interviews with the stars. The other guy which Name I don't know whas based in London and works for Sky. And the woman is based in Germany and works for Newspaper BILD which is like DailyMail.
