George Clooney brought a little bit of America with him to Italy for a 4th of July celebration on Saturday.

The 54-year-old actor and his 37-year-old wife, Amal Clooney, held an Independence Day party on a yacht moored outside their Lake Como home.

Among the guests who joined George and Amal for an on-the-water fireworks display were 47-year-old Julia Roberts and her husband, 46-year-old Daniel Moder.

The Clooneys were spotted after nightfall in light summer clothes - a white dress shirt with light-coloured trousers for George and a brown-and-gold sundress for Amal.

Julia - a long-time friend of George - arrived looking casual in a pink top and white trousers, while Daniel opted for a green shirt with blue jeans.

After the yacht left its dock, the passengers were treated to a professional-looking display of pyrotechnics over the water.

George has owned his Italian estate since 2001, when he purchased the property for $10 million.

Recent reports, however, have indicated that the Ocean's 11 actor might be considering selling his house for a huge profit of $100 million.

'George loves the area and the people who live there, but is conscious of the attention he gets when he is in town,' a source told Page Six on Thursday.

For the holiday weekend, the 18th-century villa served as a reunion for the busy actor and his equally busy lawyer wife.

At the end of June, they had been separated briefly while George went on a motorcycle road trip in the United States and Amal worked on an international law case in London.

They have been married for less than a year, having tied the knot in September 2014.

Credible for what they think MOST people want to believe.  It's a rag, just like the rest of them.  They print what the "stars" or their people tell them.  Truths or lies?

I don't think there's any reason not to believe that they had dinner together. Why couldn't they? I'm more curious to know WHY George met with DeNiro. I wonder if they're considering working together.

DeNiro I think is  is a friend of George's The DeNiros visited George in 2009  there are pictures on the web. This is not the first time they have been together maybe the first time they have met Amal.

I don't consider People Magazine a rag at all.  They did get the exclusive for George's engagement.  And the wedding pics too.   Lol Sexiest Man Alive twice wouldn't consider them a rag.  I think People has been pretty straight with their reporting of George over the years.

Yes, DeNiro and George are friends.  As annemarie mentioned and I mentioned earlier they have seen each other socially before in Como.  And have known each other for some time.  DeNiro helped out on the Haitian telethon with George years ago too.

DeNiro IS AN ASS. Ever since he made fun of Elisabetta at Sanremo as a brainless twit, I have concluded DeNiro is the real brainless twit.

He had no respect for her translating "gentrify" to Italian for the audience. He is pompous and not kind.

I wasn't aware than DeNiro insulted Elisabetta at Sanremo.  And yes George and Elisabetta were still together at that time.

George Fan, I have absolutely no idea what went on between DeNiro and Elisabetta. Just remember there are at least two sides to every story - if not more. He may have felt he had a good reason for what he said, if indeed he did say it.

True , I think sometimes the press turn statements around to make them worse than what they were. So if the press reported this I would take it with a grain of salt. Also , since he knew George and had probably met Eli, he may have been kidding jokes don't always translate well.

I watched Sanremo live and he let her twist in the wind struggling to translate. DeNiro is a cruel guy. George was not there.

I watched the interview a few years ago between Betta and DeNiro.  It was a bit awkward at times but I didn't feel he was making fun of her or being rude.  Betta had some trouble with translating.  I do remember that.
And DeNiro has a demeanor where he can seem a bit aloof at times.

Elisabetta Canalis practically ran the interview. De Niro had two interviewers talking in Italian and English and a translating earpiece, a crying child and a chattering audience at times.

Como Squad

George Clooney too was a friend collector well before Taylor Swift. So while Taylor was hosting all her friends in Rhode Island for the Fourth of July, George spent the holiday in Italy, at his Lake Como estate, with Amal and Julia Roberts’s husband and kids. Julia and Danny Moder were celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary. That they chose to do so with the Clooneys? More evidence then that Julia and Amal are tight.
On Saturday they all gathered to watch fireworks on the water. George had his arm around Amal on the boat. From the shots of the front view of the boat, you can see Julia and Danny in the corner on the right. Last night the Clooneys had dinner with friends, including Karen Duffy, who he’s been close with now for 20 years. Duffy has seen them all come and go. Duffy has seen them all at Como. Interesting too because last week it was reported by the tabloids that George is ready to sell his Como home – something about the paps being too intrusive. It’s not like they’re more intrusive now than they were five years ago. He loves it there. He shot one of his movies there. Is he actually ready to let go of it?
