Fashionable friends: George and Amal Clooney dine out with Stella McCartney and Alasdhair Willis at The River Cafe

She's married the most eligible bachelor in the world and now Amal Clooney is expanding her friendship group into the fashion world.

The Human Rights lawyer - who tied the knot with George Clooney this summer - enjoyed dinner with fashion designers Stella McCartney and Alasdhair Willis on Tuesday night.

The two power couples spent the evening at The River Cafe in London and hugged each other goodbye at the end of dinner.

It's unclear when Stella and Amal were first introduced but no doubt their friendship was sealed after the designer dressed the bride for her civil service in Italy.

The lawyer wore a sleek cream trouser suit for the formal affair having worn Oscar De La Renta for the main wedding.

Much of Amal's travel wardrobe in the lead up and after her wedding weekend was filled by Stella McCartney designs, and now that they are residing in the countryside just outside of London, Alasdhair might be able to help them with some wellies.

Favourite: Amal wore a Stella McCartney trouser suit for her civil service marriage to George

Willis is currently the creative director of Hunter and the footwear brand made their debut at London Fashion Week this year.

George and Amal are also reportedly planning to start a family by adopting a child from a war-torn country.

A source allegedly told Woman's Day Magazine that the 53-year-old actor and the 36-year-old lawyer are hoping to use the 'adoption to highlight the plight of orphans in countries like Syria.'

Get some wellies: As the creative director at Hunter, Alasdhair may well be making sure the Clooneys have decent footwear for their countryside home

But even if the couple are looking to adopt, it's unlikely they will be able to do so in Syria under American law, as the US embassy in Damascus states that Syria 'as a Shari'ah law country, does not recognize or provide for adoptions of Muslim children.

'Several attempts by U.S. prospective adoptive parents have failed.'

The Embassy's understanding is that until specific Decree 76-compliant previsions have been developed to address adoption for specific denominations, it is not possible to adopt in Syria.'

Maybe McCartney is designing Amal's dress for the Golden Globes... or several dresses for the whole awards season, for that matter.

I'd much rather see George hanging out with 'work friends.'

According to Amal's fashion blog she was wearing an Alexander McQueen coat. Seems princess Kate has the same coat in black.

The River Cafe supposed to be a really good Italian restaurant. George would appreciate that.

Hunter Wellies are ones that are worn by all the
"right people" attending the "right" out door pursuits,
don't ya know.
Like watching Polo or a Point to Point horse event.

So it looks as if Our George is becoming an Anglophile.

They've diverted to a marketing opportunity item about Alasdhair and new store opening today, Jo

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The man making wellies cool: Stella McCartney's designer husband Alasdhair Willis on Kate Moss, Hunter boots and dinner with Mr and Mrs Clooney

Once a humble wellington boot brand loved by country bumpkins, Hunter has risen to become the footwear of choice for A-listers - and it's all thanks to one man.

Alasdhair Willis, better known to some as Mr Stella McCartney, took the helm as creative director 18 months ago and since then he has given the brand a huge overhaul, introduced trend-led outerwear and ensured his show is one of fashion week's hottest tickets.

As Hunter celebrates the official opening of its first global flagship store at 83 Regent Street in London today, FEMAIL caught up with the brains behind the brand.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The main man: Alasdhair Willis, pictured at Buckingham Palace with his wife and fashion designer Stella McCartney, has given Hunter a huge revamp and chatted to FEMAIL about his plans for the British brand

'The opening of the Hunter Flagship Store is a massive statement for the brand,' explained Willis, 44.

'It demonstrates our commitment to growing the business and maximising the incredible opportunity this great British brand has.'

And Willis certainly made a statement with the opening event, which saw 28 dancers take over the London street to perform Singin' In The Rain.

Paying tribute to the British capital, the performers arrived in one of the city's iconic red buses - all sporting coats and boots from the latest Hunter Original collection.

Just to ensure all eyes were definitely on the store, a free-runner scaled down the side before the production climaxed with a torrent of water spraying down onto Regent Street.

Inside, the store - which looks a little like a souped-up hay barn - the decor pays homage to the British countryside.

Seating areas resemble the traditional farmhouse boot room, with boots displayed against a backdrop of box hedging and green tiles.

Willis, like his wife a fan of all things high-tech, also oversaw the installation of a five-metre LED screen that cuts through both floors and plays fashion shows and ad campaigns on a loop.

'The design of the store references some classic architectural features and materials that you might traditionally associate with the countryside or the outdoors, but they have been reinvented into an urban context,' he explained.

Fresh from an evening spent having dinner with George Clooney and his new wife, Amal Alamuddin, the 44-year-old told of his plans to ensure that city shoppers get a truly rural shopping experience.

'The result of this is that you really experience the merging of the countryside and the city under one roof;' he enthuses.

'It is these two worlds coming together that represent what the new Hunter brand is all about.'

The new store is an extension of the successful relaunch of the brand, which last appeared on the catwalk in front of a front row that included Rita Ora, Anna Wintour and Sir Paul McCartney.

Among the highlights were striking khaki coats with vibrant yellow and turquoise pockets and super-cool colour block outerwear.

'Hunter as a brand experience has always been about much more than just the Wellington boot,' explained the man behind the re-brand.

'Hunter has always represented emotion, fun, adventure and ultimately memorable experiences. The introduction of the new categories such as outerwear is an obvious and next step for the brand to express the much-loved brand spirit.'

Top designer he might be, but Willis is, at heart, a family man, as the presence of Nancy Shevell, Sir Paul McCartney, and wife Stella McCartney on the sidelines of the SS/15 show made plain.

'The show was a great success for many reasons,' he mused. 'It demonstrated clearly that Hunter can be just as relevant as a spring / summer brand as it is for the winter months.

'It also clearly expressed the spirit of the brand in an authentic and highly memorable way and lastly it was very well recieved by both the press and the buyers, which is of course key.

'The support of friends and family is always important - it makes what is a very stressful event much more enjoyable.'

Speaking about the future, he added: 'The brand has undergone a massive transformation in the last 20 months and the ambitions for 2015 are no different.

'One of the key events in 2015 will be the launch of Hunter Field, which will be the brand’s more technical outdoor collection.

'Hunter Field will offer footwear and outwear to the guy and girl who wants to look amazing in the wilds of the great outdoors, but also need the assurance that the product will perform at the highest level in this environment.'

Founded in 1856, Hunter is a British heritage brand that holds two Royal Warrants of Appointment to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Nevertheless, Willis has another queen in mind - the Queen of London's fashion scene to be precise - when it comes to pinpointing the ultimate Hunter woman.

'It would have to be the queen of the Wellington boot, Kate Moss,' said Willis. 'I can’t think of anyone that wears it better.'

George is a Beatles fan. Said in an interview years ago, A bit surprised by the friendship, and assuming it is Amal who at some point met McCartney, possibly when she was planning her summer and wedding wardrobe. Interesting new circle of friends for George.

George and Amal Clooney ”Very Much in Love” During Double Date With Stella McCartney and Alasdhair Willis

Looks like George and Amal Clooney are still in a state of newlywed bliss.
The gorgeous couple, who wed in Venice in late September, enjoyed a double date night with pals Stella McCartney and her husband, Alasdhair Willis, in London, where they spent the evening dining at The River Cafe.

According to an eyewitness, George and Amal entered the restaurant at 8 p.m. and immediately became the center of attention, causing the eatery to fall silent as fellow diners began to recognize the famous newlyweds. They were then taken to their table, where they waited for their pals to arrive after George adorably helped his ladylove undo the buttons on her white jacket.
"They looked very much in love," the source said of the couple, who said I-do after a whirlwind courtship.
"All the ladies in the restaurant were beaming huge smiles trying to attract George’s attention, who only had eyes for Amal."
Aww

Stella and her husband arrived shortly after and joined the Clooneys at their table, where the couples “looked happy and animated in conversation as the evening wore on.”
During their meal at the eatery, which boasts “seasonal Italian cuisine and fine wines,” the 53-year-old Gravity star sipped on wine while dining on the restaurant’s famous fare.
At one point during the nearly three-hour evening, George was seen directing his wife to the restroom, and upon her return, “she had lots of admiring glances from both men and women alike.”
The restaurant finally closed around 11 p.m., at which point the couples parted and went their separate ways, but it’s safe to say the pals enjoyed their time together!
George and Amal most recently made headlines when the British beauty’s parents threw a post-wedding party for the A-list couple in Buckinghamshire, England. The occasion, presumably, marked the couple’s reunion following their respective trips to New York and Greece for work.

Double date! George and Amal Clooney dine out with Stella McCartney and her husband

THEY'VE KEPT a low profile since their highly publicised Italian wedding earlier this year but George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin dined out with friends last night.

But when the couple dine out with friends, it's not just any old person: George and Amal spent the evening with fashion Stella McCartney and her husband Alasdhair Willis.
Mr & Mrs Clooney were seen leaving The River Cafe in London yesterday after spending the evening with Paul McCartney's daughter.
While Hollywood actor George opted for a pea coat, his Human Rights Lawyer wife Amal looked seriously glamorous in a white coat and black beret.
Headed out to their waiting car, George and Amal looked cosy wrapped up in their winter jackets together.
The pair haven't been spotted out since their final wedding party held in Britain for the family and friends who couldn't make it over to Venice.

One British celebrity who wasn't on the guest list was overjoyed when she heard of George and Amal's nuptials in September.
Katherine Jenkins married Andrew Levitis at Hampton Court Palace on September 27, but Hollywood star George also got hitched that day.
Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, Katherine opened up about her special day and even thanked George for choosing the same date.
"Thank God for George Clooney is all I can say," she laughed. "If I saw him I’d kiss him.
"I’ve always said that I wouldn’t want to sell my wedding. We got an offer to do that but I just wanted to be a normal bride and groom, have the family and not be like a big showbiz thing.
"So when I saw that they were getting married on the same day it was like ‘brilliant hopefully now we’ve got a chance to do this in a low-key way,'" she added

and here is Lainey's take on it:

One step closer to Angelina …or Gwyneth

On Tuesday night, Amal and George Clooney went out for dinner in London with Stella McCartney and her husband, Alasdhair Willis. .

Gossips have been trying to friend-set Amal and Angelina Jolie for a while. Could Stella be the connection? Stella and the Jolie collaborated on Maleficent and were also together earlier this year at the Global Summit To End Sexual Violence In Conflict. Here’s a video of them – start at the 4 minute mark:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Stella manages all kinds of celebrity relationships though. As we all know, she’s also tight with Kate Hudson and Liv Tyler and, yes, her.

Gwyneth Paltrow.

Can you imagine a GOOP collaboration with Amal?

Or, maybe Amal and George can just hang out with My Obsession, Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Invite the Clooneys to a private screening of Fifty Shades Of Grey. George could, ahem, TOTALLY relate.

This came to me because Stella just posted this to Instagram:
