Posting Articles

Post by melbert on Fri Sep 19 2014, 13:55

Why is it that when you post articles it looks so nice and tight and clean in the Preview, but when it posts in the thread, it's all over the place?  I have a hard time deleting unnecessary lines and spaces, etc., and it just makes the post look sloppy.  Am I doing something wrong?

No idea! I see that for some reason in some people's posts all of the formatting keeps changing (size of the font in particular) and I don't really know why.

If you've got microsoft word (and some patience) you can post the text into word and select 'text only' which will remove all formatting. Then copy that into your post.

Also, take a look at the buttons on the toolbar just above the box you type in and check whether the button on the far right ('switch editor mode') is selected. If it isn't, then select it and see what happens. If it is, then deselect it and see what happens.

Sometimes I have the problem too if I select the whole text with pics at once. On some Websites there are hidden links in between (in Pictures or in the text) which cause the changes. and you only see it when you post. It looks normal when you click preview. In order to fix it i had to copy the text step by step again like paragraph by paragraph and the pics. Much more work I know

Not sure if that info helps and if this is really the cause. I can only say for me this helped.

I didn't pay much attention which Websites those are but if I see those Posts from others again I will check out the Website and have a look.

Oh also the other thing what helps sometimes for some articles is as follows:

if I copy the whole text with pics I always highlight the text again and go to "font size" and select 16. and then when you go to preview then you see the weird font changes and you can go back before you post and fix it.

But again. Not sure if this helps for others....Not saying this is it and will fix it. But is a way it worked for me...

@Melbert, for example the article you posted in the link below. When you copy the whole article at once which looks like you did (I can be wrong) the font size looks like that, it changes. The daily mail always looks like that when you copy everything at once. You have two choices here you either copy paragraph by paragraph and post the pics seperate (which can be a pain as with each paragraph a link shows up which you need to delete). Or what I do when I copy the whole daily mail article I highlight the whole text again and go to font size and chose 16 and then I go to preview and fix the rest.
Daily mail is a bit of a pain. and I think eonline too....

Hope that helps a bit...
