News is reporting rioting and looting in Los Cabos.

The celebrities houses in the area can be replaced with no problem.
Obviously the real problem is for the locals living in the little fishing villages. It looks as if their lives have been ruined....and we think we have problems.
I hope there will be some financial aid for them soon.
Does anyone know what the position is regarding that ?

No idea Joanna but this morning the news is reporting a new hurricane is forming off the West coast of Mexico and it is predicted to pass a bit to the West of Cabo again by Friday and Saturday.

I would imagine the International Red Cross will be in there as soon as possible. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Hollywood community, led by George and Rande, start a relief effort since so many of them use Cabo as a vacation spot.

You may be correct Lizzy, but given that George is thousands of miles away focusing on his upcoming wedding and prepping for his role, the best will be able to do is just send money.

Lorna - I don't think they need a telethon. Just a few well placed phone calls to their friends could get the ball rolling.

Not sure if somebody knows but is Cabo a Hurricane risk every year or is it only this year that it gets hit so hard? can't remember how it was in the past.

This is a good link Nicky. It talks about the current hurricane, but when you scroll down, it has a picture showing all the other major storms that have hit Cabo over the years. They're not immune to bad weather.

Well George and Randes homes are about 5 mins by car up the road from one of the Hotels that was severely damaged so hoping that their homes are not, beautiful as they are.
But they of course can cope with any rebuilds necessary, unlike a lot of the locals who will be doing it tough for quite awhile.

I can't imagine they won't get involved in relief and rebuilding efforts once the storms are over and the damage is assessed.
If George involves himself in relief efforts for places where he has no ties, like Haiti and Sudan, how could he not do whatever he can to help the people of Cabo? It is a place he calls home.
