Christmas sweets and chocolates already out in the market?

Well I wouldn't buy anything at this point.  Not going to be very "fresh" by the time Christmas rolls around!

latest on Joan Rivers via CBS
Joan Rivers is slowly being taken out of a medically induced coma, a source told "Entertainment Tonight."

Joan Rivers talks about old age

"The waking-up process has begun and will take until Tuesday," a close family source told The New York Daily News. "There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair."
The comedienne was rushed to New York's Mount Sinai Hospital last Thursday when she suffered cardiac arrest after her breathing stopped during vocal cord surgery at a Manhattan clinic.
On Sunday, the TV personality's only child, Melissa Rivers, said, "Thank you for your continued love and support. We are keeping our fingers crossed."
The day before, Rivers said her mother's condition "remained serious."

Melissa Rivers previously released a statement, saying, "I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."
Rivers was in New York getting ready to tape her E! series, "Fashion Police," to coincide with New York Fashion Week.
The 81-year-old star with a half-century of show business under her belt has spawned a reputation for often-snarky red carpet fashion commentary.
Rivers spoke at an employee event at Time Inc. in New York on Wednesday night and appeared healthy, practically jogging when she walked in to take her seat, Shira Blum, an online project manager, said Thursday.

He is so happy, he varies between position of centre field and Striker and has come close a few times so to actually score a goal in soccer has made his week. My daughter plays defence and is the only girl player in the soccer club, she's very good but is getting a bit worried now, she's managed to stop the other team scoring by blocking the ball with almost every part of her body, covered in bruises and loving it. Next season I'm getting her a mouth guard, possibly a helmet and knee pads lol

Yes it's good news.....but the poor lady went through acute morning sickness
with her first baby. It's a shame that it looks like she'll be going through it again.

From MSN home page......

The Duke of Cambridge has said he is 'thrilled' at the news that his wife is

expecting their second child.

The prince said that his wife has experienced a "tricky few days" with
very acute morning sickness.
"We're hoping things settle down and she feels a bit better," he added.
The Queen and members of both William and Kate's families have said they are "delighted" with the news of the pregnancy, according to a Kensington Palace spokesperson.
The couple's first child, Prince George, was born on 22 July 2013.

My granddaughter is a natural athlete, but she has almost no killer instinct. She's just happy to be out on the field or whatever with other kids. She dances, which is fine for her mindset, but she also runs track and plays tennis, and she could win or lose and be happy either way. In karate, she gets the 1st-place trophies for the katas (sp?) but almost never wins the one-on-one 'fights' (what do you call them?) because she just doesn't have that in her.  And she starts training for competitive swimming this fall. I try to stay philosophical about it, but inside I go crazy. Her mother (my daughter) was the exact opposite -- almost too competitive -- but I was told to stay away from her games because I made her nervous.

This may be why I watch TV sports...

Im thinking both my kids lack that got to win at all costs (killer instinct) mentality too, though they definitely possess talent in this sport, they just need to hone that competitive instinct, particularly my little girl, no idea how they are going to do that?.  For 2 kids who have only just about completed their first season ever of any sport, they have both done really well. One thing I like about this particular club is their motto, We celebrate the team, not the Individual, One Team, One Family and something else Ive forgotten (oopsy).  They are having fun with it at the moment so Im just letting them learn, experience a few wins/losses and as long as they enjoy it I will continue taking them.

My neice has 3 of those things on her black belt, no idea what you call it, she is the most unlikely person you'd ever pick who is a karate champion and killer instinct, she has that in spades, but shes so quiet and shy normally.  Guess you never can tell.

Just wanted to share a warm and fuzzy from my life -

Took our 3 kidlets to the Snow for the very first time and I have to say that watching them go up and down a mountain for 3 hours on a toboggan was probably the best day Ive had in ages - those of you who don't have kids may think that's pretty sad, but for those that do, you will understand when I say that watching your children run around, fall over, toss snow at each other, slide down mountains all whilst laughing their little heads off is one of those wonderful warm and fuzzy feelings, so beautiful and simple that I found myself well and truly living the moment, not worrying or caring about anything else other than sitting there watching them enjoy life -

I also took them ice skating the other day and that was also a lot of fun except for one thing, that irritating song Let It Go from the Frozen Movie was playing on repeat at the link the entire time!!!!

Ciao, off to bed as I have to get up at 6.30am for kids early soccer games, their last game for the season, yippee so soon I'll be able to sleep in till at least 9.00am on a weekend.

By the time the last reached to age of wanting to sleep in at least 3 were married, 2 in college, etc. You know what I mean...........?

Retailers begin Christmas earlier to match consumer demand

September 2014 Chit Chat 4730567_G
UNDATED (NBC) - It's beginning to look a lot like, OK maybe not just yet.

But to retailers it's already the holiday season.

Ads are already popping-up with holiday deals and some stores are starting layaway programs even earlier.

The reason stores are starting so early is because consumers are too.

Retailers like K-Mart, Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby say the reason holiday displays are up even before summer officially ends is simply a response to customer demand.

According to the National Retail Federation 20-percent of all Americans have already started their Christmas shopping and by Halloween that number is expected to double.

"$600 billion is on the line so if you're a retailer in the holiday space, you want to get in front of the 40-percent of Americans who are ready to shop right now,” Kathy Grannis from the National Retail Federation said.

This year Americans are carrying more debt on their credit cards than they have in six years: $28 billion.

One reason why major retailers have started holiday layaway plans earlier.

The national retail federation says the average American will spend $536 on gifts this year.

For adults, there are 104 shopping days left, but for kids Christmas is always just around the corner.

When asked what they want many boys said they want Lego girls want gifts from Disney's "Frozen.

Um No Pattygirl, wishful thinking on my part (ie Hubby gets up early and I get to sleep in), otherwise my 3 all get up between 630am-7.00am every day of the week and school holidays.  Every now and then they sleep in but its rare.

The first day of the rash of chickenpox can look like a lot of other things. The first pediatrician probably wanted to see if they start to blister and if there are new lesions. So cut her a little slack on not jumping on a diagnosis. It won't make a difference in the course of things, and the wrong treatment could make things a lot worse.

Hope the little guy is okay. Oatmeal baths, ibuprofen (nothing with aspirin in it) for fever, and if he's absolutely miserable at night, a dose of Benadryl to help him get some relief and sleep.

Thanks Way, I was just frustrated at her telling me to being him back another day. The 2nd dr said it looks like chickenpox, more bumps since this morning. So he's been given anti histimine and I've covered him in calamine lotion. So he is missing the last week of school, have to wait and see if the other 2 or us get it!!!! My poor bub is being a good sport about it, he just finished crying when he realised he can't go to his soccer presentation night and won't be there to get his trophy!! Will have to make it special at home.

Poor guy. Missing the last week of school, the last game, and the awards ceremony. That sucks, big time.

But he had to have gotten it from somewhere, and he was infectious before you saw something going on, so I'll bet he's not the only one missing stuff.

Doesn't make him feel any better, I'm sure. Hang in there. It should be peaking in another day or so, then it will be more tolerable.

Poor kid! I know just how he feels. To close out the school year every year, our town had a HUGE picnic at a local amusement park for all the school kids and their families - rides, prizes - the works.
When I was eight, I woke up the day of the picnic covered in dots! It itched like crazy and all I wanted to do was scratch! Doctor came, told my mom it was German measles, gave me a shot and stuck me in bed. "Keep the room dark" he said. No reading, no tv, just rest and calamine lotion all over me. Not only was I sick (although I didn't really feel sick - just itchy) but I was bored out of my mind! Thank heaven it only lasted a few days. I've hated that doctor ever since. Very Happy

Way, he finally fell asleep at 10pm, 2 hours after bedtime but at least he's sleeping soundly. Hopefully all the lotions and potions will help. I'm such a novice that I didn't realise until my friend google told me that bring first day of rash he can and probably come out with more dots in the next few days.

Lucky he is immunised otherwise it could be worse. Have cut his lovely nails and tried to make him comfortable. He is very sad to miss last week of school but missing soccer will hurt more, wish I could make it all better for him.

What do they say, it's a rite of childhood passage.

Lizzy I too had German Measles and hated that lotion, the memories came back as soon as I started rubbing the lotion on my son, think I now have PTSD lol. Damn shame you missed out on your picnic. I had been invited to my first ever Aussie pool party but Dad of course wouldn't let me go to that either.

Theminis - I think what really stinks about it is that you don't really feel sick. I couldn't see why I had to stay home - except for itching, I felt fine!

I hope your son get better soon Theminis.

I  never had Chicken Pox but I did have German Measles ( or Red Dog as we call it)and I wasn't sick at all. But it saved me from doing the vacination that all the other girls had to do. But I had to do a bloodtest to make sure I had antibodies against German Measles. The disease was so mild that they couldn't be sure I had it. But the bloodtest proved I did.So German Measles are not always so bad. Measles was a lot worse in my case.

Retailers begin Christmas earlier to match consumer demand

HA!  And here's what's going to make it worse, I bought Christmas table decorations for our work luncheon in July!  They arrived and I've had them hidden so that the folks won't see what the theme for this year's luncheon will be.

I work for a VP and every year he pays for lunch for our entire division - out of his own pocket - not company money.  The only thing is that I have to plan and execute it each year and it becomes more of a challenge to do something different whilst taking into account that not everyone in our division is Christian.  I know it's a Christian holiday but we try to be inclusive not overbearing.

So yes, I've already done some Christmas shopping and will probably start looking at the craft stores for early sales on extra table decorations.

All this whilst working full time at my job, and then working MY business when I come home at night and on the weekends (was doing some sales at a salon yesterday) and then also working on a project that has a December deadline but has been a dream of mine for many years.

So that's one of the reasons I haven't been on the forum as much lately and will be even less as the holiday's roll around.

Heck, I've already been invited out of town for Thanksgiving and I found out this week that someone *cough* my boss *cough* volunteered me to help a group of folks who want to put on some sort of event for Halloween!

I don't think I'm getting paid enough!!!  :-)  Then again, who gets paid enough anyway!

Hi Lizzie

I moved your question about Amal's PA (and my reply) to here: http://www.clooneysopenhouse.com/t5712-amal-s-pa

The chit chat thread is more for non-George related conversations.
