Re: May 2014 Chit Chat
Every May Day (the 1st of May), we would craft baskets, usually out of construction paper and fill them with candy and goodies and deliver to our friends. Here is a link to some fairly elaborate ones that we came nowhere near creating!

Re: May 2014 Chit Chat
I have always felt so concerned for this little girl,
who is now 11 years old.
From MSN UK today.....
British police granted permission to dig for Madeleine McCann evidence
2 hours ago By Press Association and staff
Kate and Gerry McCann with a picture of Madeleine earlier this year
British police have been granted permission in Portugal to dig at three sites where evidence linked to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann may be buried.
Sky News reported that ground-penetrating radar will be used to target the search within the wider areas.
The unidentified locations have been chosen following a review of evidence collected over the past seven years.
Speaking at a special service to mark the latest anniversary of his daughter's abduction, Gerry McCann thanked the Metropolitan Police for refusing to give up on their investigation.
"They are chipping away and obviously there is new evidence so we are going to continue to hope that we will get a happy outcome," he told around 100 well-wishers, friends and relatives gathered at a low-key open-air service in the centre of Rothley, Leicestershire.
The half-hour service, conducted beside Rothley's War Memorial, saw candles being lit for all children around the world who have been taken away from their parents against their will.
Madeleine, then aged three, went missing on May 3 2007, part-way through a family holiday in Portgual.
'Support'
During the service, led by Rothley's Anglican vicar Rob Gladstone, Kate McCann gave a reading adapted from the words of a song.
"Here we are again, and more significantly, here you are again," she told those present.
"Having your support has made a huge difference, so thank you."
Speaking before the service, Mrs McCann's uncle, Brian Kennedy, said all four churches in the village had provided a tremendous support to the family.
The retired headmaster, who lives in Rothley, said local people had also been extremely supportive.
Asked how he felt on the anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance, Mr Kennedy, 75, told the Press Association: "Much the same as I was seven years ago - hopeful.
"But, as Kate always says, we would just like to know something. The worst part is not knowing where Madeleine is."
Speaking earlier this week, Mrs McCann revealed that she privately returns to the Portuguese resort where her daughter disappeared to "walk those streets" and "look for answers".
She told the BBC that she returns quietly to Praia da Luz at least once or twice a year to feel close to her eldest daughter.
Mrs McCann's comments to the BBC came as she backed a revamped alert system triggered when missing children are kidnapped or their lives are at risk - known as Child Rescue Alerts.
She said: "When a child is abducted, families are devastated and entire communities are torn apart.
"The agony of not knowing where your child is is almost impossible to imagine."
'Unbelievable'
In a message posted on the official website dedicated to finding Madeleine, Mrs McCann said: "Our situation seems as unbelievable as it did that very first night withoutMadeleine.
"Whenever I find myself becoming paralysed with disbelief, unease, frustration or sadness, I have to refocus my mind on the positives, of which there are many.
"The Metropolitan Police force continue to make encouraging progress in their investigation with new evidence being uncovered, fresh information coming in to the inquiry following appeals and, subsequently, links being made between people and events.
"We are hugely grateful to the general public for continuing to support the investigation, especially those who have found the courage to come forward with information despite difficult circumstances.
"We are grateful beyond words for the continued and unwavering commitment, help and love from all our faithful supporters."

This Is A Video EVERYONE Needs To See. For The First Time In My Life, I'm Speechless.
“This media we call social is anything but, when we open our computers and it’s our doors we shut”… This is one of the most vital messages that everyone needs to hear.
Look Up is a spoken word for the “online” generation. Written, performed and directed by Gary Turk, it is an extremely important life lesson for our youth. Children are growing up in a world where they don’t play outside or communicate with their friends. It seems today everything is done via text message or over the internet. It’s heartbreaking… I feel guilty myself. We need to spread this message before it’s too late. Please do your part and SHARE it with everyone you know.

It's so true. I think you all know that I work in a luxury resort, that's got loads of honeymooners here. Well, I go to dinner in the restaurant every night and walk past tables on the beach, under the stars, with candles and fresh flower petals and the couple sitting there opposite each other . . . each reading their own smart device.
So sad.
So sad.

One of my friends is constantly on her phone, checking it, receiving calls, drives me bananas. All her kids comment on how she is hardly ever off the phone - very sad. If she is not talking/texting then she is playing Candy Crush all day/night. I hate using my mobile so only receive calls on it, very rarely ever use it to call people, though I do a lot of texting but not when Im out with friends or at dinner etc.

That's very sad. People get addicted. I don't even get how you can play games on there.
I never check my phone when I'm with friends or at dinner and I always do it on silence that I don't get disturbed....wish my friends would do that too.
It was a nice time when everyone was writing letters. Now the only letters I get are bills and newsletters

On MSN UK today.....
5 Reasons you're Marrying the Wrong Person
It’s true that many marriages end in divorce, but it’s pretty crucial that you at least start out believing that it really is until death us do part. If you aren’t sure you’re making the right decision it could be a simple case of cold feet, or there could be deeper problems.
Read through our list of potential deal breakers and see if any alarm bells start to ring.
You think marriage will solve your relationship problems.
If you’re getting hitched because you think it will sort out all your difficulties, you need to have a serious rethink. Any problems that exist between you and your partner will still remain after the excitement of the big day has worn off and will only be exacerbated by the fact that you’ve committed yourselves for life. Tackle your problems before saying ‘I do’.
You aren’t friends
The first flush of romance is incredibly exciting and it’s easy to promise the world to someone when under the influence of that initial chemistry. If you rush into marriage at an early stage, you might find that once the honeymoon period is over, you aren’t compatible in the long term. If you don’t feel your lover is also your friend, you might not last the distance.
Your life priorities are completely different
If you want to travel the world in a camper van and rarely think past next week, but your partner wants to settle down with a mortgage and 2.4 kids, you’re going to struggle to find a happy future together. Compromise is vital to a relationship, but you shouldn’t be compromising so much that you end up unhappy.
You think marriage will make you feel secure
If you feel insecure in your relationship and are using marriage as a way to stop your partner leaving you, then you need to have a long hard look at yourself. Marriage should be a celebration of your love rather than a method of control, so address your insecurities before asking someone to make the commitment.
Your family and friends don’t like your partner
We don’t always see eye to eye with our friends and family about our choice of partner, but if there’s a general consensus amongst them that this person is really wrong for you, take a moment to stop and think. Your friends and family know you well, and care about your happiness, so they may be seeing something that your head-over-heels feelings have blinded you to. They may be wrong, but it’s worth listening to their opinions all the same.

OK I know this is a no George thread but I have to make a comment (Jo you started it ).
Wasn't there different comments about George asking Amal because he was scared that somebody snapped her away? Than that is the right comment from above:

Remember when Matt Damon first spotted his wife ? He KNEW she was The One and snapped her up quickly. Michael Cain did the same, spotted a girl in an advert on TV,
and went out to find her...Brazil ??.....CRS now.
I think that paragraph is referring to a drawn out relationship, where one person feels insecure.....not an emotion that feels right.....and you don't want to take the chance of losing that person by acting too slowly.
That's what I think anyway......Good discussion point though !

Oh no, 2 out 5 are no for me on that list "why you are marrying a wrong person". I´m not marrying anyone. So no worries.
My only worry at the moment is to find a birthday present. I have only tomorrow for it. I have no idea. No clothes, I have already kind of changed his whole garderobe including shoes and belts. Sounds bad, but is good for him He doesn´t need to be a billboard for Hillfiger or such I don´t think. No logo´s.
Don´t get me wrong we are just friends. I´m just kind of strong person maybe.

Thanks Maggy for reminding about color analysis! It works, really.
Now, I know this question maybe doesn´t belong in here, but
can I lock my "clooney love. and they said it wouldn´t last" status?
Only way to do it is to stop posting- right?

Wow that Brits Got Talent video was awesome!
Definitely great inspiration to all AND a good reminder that there is no excuse to try - you just never know what you can accomplish if you at least try!
