Using the Quote Button Empty Using the Quote Button

Post by melbert Tue 12 Nov 2013, 00:02

It may be only me, but is it necessary to hit the "quote" button if you just want to thank someone for an article or pictures? Many, many, many, MANY times posters will quote an exceptionally long post or a long string of pictures when their only response is "thank you for the article" or "great pictures", etc.

Instead, maybe just post your comment as "thanks for the article Lorna", or "thanks for the pictures TheMinis", or anybody else who posts pics or articles (just picking on Lorna and TheMinis cuz' they can take it!!! hahahaha).

If you are actually making a comment in response to someone else, by all means the "quote" might be necessary.

Thank you!

WWHS funny, really funny.

I have to agree with melbert.  Sometimes it's irritating as hell to have to scroll down quote after quote of the same article because someone wanted to thank someone or comment on the article.

If you want to comment on just a particular section - then just hit quote and then delete everything other than the section you want to comment upon. If there is no need to repost the entire article then you don't have to.

.....And sometimes pictures are "quoted" over & over again quite unnecessarily IMO.
That takes up so much space !

Yes, I absolutely agree re:text & photo quoting.

What I've been doing if I want to quote part of an article or another poster's text, I simply delete the majority of the content when quoting & only repost a sentence or a few words to address my point.

I never quote photos, but comment on them.

@ LornaDoone-- thank you. I am new to forums and posting. I'm sure to make me mistakes. I'm still having difficulty figuring out this "quote" action.
