First I can't find the eggs in the living room, now I forgot my tin foil hat and cashmere mittens! What is this world coming to?????

Well, I've been called sllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww before, but now I am PROUD that I'm quick. I'll just be patient and wear my waders and tin foil hat and cashmere mittens, cuz' I don't want to be considered a spammer (however, I have some in my cupboard and I may have that Christmas morning with my eggs). Thanks Katie for your help and especially your humor!!! You just crack me up!!!! clown jocolor

albino I never knew that? Where is it and what does it say? Its not the "posts since your last visit" or is it something special? rabbit

Is it still in the new forum?

Thanks!

No Sisieq, in Kimber's old forum that she's leaving behind. All I would do is hit the "posts since last visit" and it would take me right where I left off. It's the top button on the left side under your user name at the old forum. Didn't it work that way for you?

Now at the her new forum it's just like here...Betty's thread is like 900+ pages and you have to try to get to the end to see what the new posts are and that's a pain...it's OVER 900 pages! I probably won't bother going through all that to get to whatever is at then end...Betty's not THAT interesting! hahaha And I'd really be pissed, if I took the trouble to get to the end of all that and all that was posted is a LOL or something to a comment someone else made! Grrrrr! Evil or Very Mad

Hi miriam! Glad you made it here...this is a great public site for getting a quick up date on all things George isn't it? Katie's done a fabulous job in a very short time! cheers

I feel so bad for Kimber because she's had so much trouble lately with the old forum being slow and now this new one isn't really user friendly in my opinion, so people will find other places to go. It's a shame really, Kimber is a fabulous webmistress but she's been tied up with family issues I think for quite a long time now and doesn't really have the time to deal with forums anymore.

This isn't a tech question for here. But I am having trouble getting into the new CNCU forum it tells me I don't have permission and brings up an error message. Anyone else having problems?

The host has the server down working on it. They just didn't bother telling us they were going to do it. Working with them trying to get it back up. Don't know when though

I have a technical question about sending and receiving PM's. When I tried to PM someone today, it told me that 'You haven't reached the post limit for sending private messages.' I guess this means that I have to post a certain number of times before I'm allowed to PM? How many times do I have to post then?

Thanks!

Katie (for when you get back), I just got blocked out from giving a "+"!!!! I wanted to give Casey a "+" for linking us up to the Viper spin-off, and the message said that I couldn't vote anymore today. Crying or Very sad I don't remember how many very well deserved "+"s I gave out today, but why would there be a limit? Just wondering...

Hiya! I think there's a time limit between posting, which may include giving plusses and minuses. I'll have a look later and see if there's a limit on how many you can give in a day.

I know, and what a wonderful explosion! I had a great holiday and only 258 emails in the inbox when I got back, so I think I'll always go away at this time of year.

Hope everyone else managed to have a good break, too.

I've just checked and found out that you need to have at least 15 posts before you can give someone's post a + or - which is why some people can't see it.

Also, there's a maximum number of times you can give a + or - which I've now re-set to 15, so hope that's enough. For some reason I have to give it a maximum number.

No worries about the CNCU questions, I don't mind at all. I'm just happy there's somewhere that people can find information about the site. Remember how horrible it was when Crumbs crashed the first time and we were wandering around cyberspace trying to figure out what happened? It's not fun losing your home, even if only temporarily [shiver]

Funnily enough, I did! I was lying by the pool one afternoon and wishing I'd brought my laptop so I could check in and see what was going on here. I guess it's the same kind of feeling that parents have when they go away for the weekend leaving their teenagers in charge of the house Razz

Katie, got a question here. How come sometimes the threads aren't colored in orange when, in fact, there are new postings? Or is it just me? I can click on a topic on the first page without it being colored orange, and there may be several under it that ARE colored orange. Am I making sense? Confuzzled

No, you are not alone. I thought it was just my computer. Sometimes on the home page it won't show me that there are new posts in a particular thread (orange). And, sometimes inside a thread where there is a list of other threads, not always orange (with green arrow), too. Hope that made sense. I use different computers so can't remember if on IE or FireFox.

However, for those who use Internet Explorer, your IE could be more advanced than websites are able to adjust. Look up at the "title bar" (where you type a websites link), next to it and the double-green arrows (used to renew a webpage), if there is a square that looks like a piece of paper torn in half - click on it. This makes the website compatible to your version of IE. Sometimes this helps make the orange/green arrows show up again. BTW, its not for just this website, but other, too.

I use IE Sisieq. Now, when I just came back (life called for a minute), I was orange again. It seems to come and go. Normally I just look at the scroll to the left and see the new posts, rather than go in to each topic. Just depends on my mood!! lol

Thanks for your info!!

Umm, no idea. It's working for me.

When you click on 'view posts since last visit' does it bring up everything or is it missing threads? Because that's honestly the easiest way of finding everything that's new on the site.

I don't use the unread post thingy, but there are times I do get the advert with what looks like a blank screen underneath. When I scroll down the threads are there way down the page.

Katie, I don't know if it's just me or if others are having the same problems. When I click on to Open House, it takes FOREVER to be able to click on any of the topics. And, when I do get to click, again it takes FOREVER to bring up the topic. Also, most times the "orange" color isn't there for new posts. I go to the left scroll and am able to click on the topics there, but sometimes it "freezes" up too. And, I have had to repeatedly re-log in. I don't log out, but I come to read and post, and find that I have to re-log in. Help!!!!

Hi Lucy

Are you sure that your avatar meets the size requirements? It needs to be no larger than 150 x 200 pixels. If it's larger than that, it shouldn't display.

I go to the left scroll and am able to click on the topics there, but sometimes it "freezes" up too. And, I have had to repeatedly re-log in. I don't log out, but I come to read and post, and find that I have to re-log in. Help!!!!
Hi Mel

It's a bit buggy at the moment and that's from forum-motion (the hosts) not this site. It's running ok for me though and I'm on a slow connection.

Have you tried clicking on the 'clear cookies' button near the bottom of the index? You will have to re-log in but hopefully clearing that out will un-confuse the programme.

Mel, let me know if it's working any better now. I know the frustration because ironically I have the same problem getting into CNCU. Half the time I just can't.

I've also tweaked one more parameter so that if you're inactive for 30mins, it will consider you inactive. Prevously it was 10 minutes, so hope that will help.
