George Clooney out to dinner with Amal Alamuddin in New York

Hello oompah loompah! Thanks Henway for the heads up on this.

A bit too much sun George? Clooney shows off his tan on dinner date with rumoured new girlfriend Amal Alamuddin after their romantic holiday in Tanzania and Seychelles

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

19 March 2014

They were first spotted together last October and things are heating up for George Clooney and his rumoured girlfriend Amal Alamuddin.  The duo recently enjoyed a holiday together in Tanzania, where they were spotted enjoying a safari, and the Seychelles, and could not have looked happier as they went to dinner together in New York on Tuesday.

Clooney, 52 - sporting a glowing tan - and his 36-year-old lawyer love exited their hotel separately to avoid being seen together but there was no hiding their matching smiles as they made their way to a waiting car.

Something to smile about! George Clooney, sporting quite the tan after his romantic getaway with Amal Alamuddin, was in high spirits on a dinner date with her in New York on Tuesday

And it's no wonder George looked so happy.  The actor has dated a near-endless parade of models and waitresses over the past few years but Amal is a breath of fresh air.   The brunette beauty specialises in international law, human rights, extradition and criminal law.   She is currently representing Julian Assange, head of Wikileaks, in his extradition proceedings with Sweden.  She has also been appointed an advisor to Kofi Annan - something which George is sure to have found interesting.

Too much sun George? Clooney was sporting a sun kissed glow after his recent romantic vacation

Something he also would have found compelling was the fact she was named the hottest UK barrister in an online poll.
And she certainly looked the part on Tuesday, stepping out for dinner in a black dress, with matching boots and a pink coat.   Her brown hair was loose around her shoulders while her red lipstick added a dramatic touch.

Clooney was dapper in a suit with a jaunty grey scarf around his neck.

Not his usual type: The stunning barrister is a lot different from the models and waitresses Clooney usually dates

The outing came after the safari in Tanzania and some relaxing in the Seychelles.   George also brought the lawyer to a special screening of Monuments Men at the White House and friends of the star approve of the match.   A source told People: 'He's with someone who is a very accomplished attorney. She isn't someone who is pursuing a career in acting or entertainment. She's on his level.'

friends of the star approve of the match. A source told People: 'He's with someone who is a very accomplished attorney. She isn't someone who is pursuing a career in acting or entertainment. She's on his level.'
Ouch! If this is a genuine quote from a genuine friend of George's (of course that's debatable), this tells us all we need to know about what they thought of his previous girlfriends: all were below him. Only now does he find someone 'on his level'.

That's exactly what I dislike when reading these news. Why do they think that models and actresses are silly resp. below him? The show business is rather hard. It seems to me that this business is easier for men than women. So, why should they be less intelligent than George just because they are less famous?

This could be or not. We can't know it because all attention is for George and his ex girlfriends have just been regarded as arm candys.

I'm sorry but I do NOT find her on his level...I find her way ABOVE his level!  She is an accomplished attorney who studied 4 years at Oxford University and then 3 years at the University School of Law in NY.  George, on the other hand, graduated from high school in June of 1979 and was a freshman at Northern Kentucky University for three years, dropping out in 1981.  He may be smart, a humanitarian, and successful as an actor-writer-producer-director but Amal's educational dedication to the traditional college path followed by law school and establishing herself as a respected lawyer should not be considered "on the same level".  I'm sure that statement is directed more at the lack of education by his previous girlfriends but if I were Amal, I'd be appalled by that statement.  Her success was reached by utilizing her brains; his by his looks, charm, and connections.  This is NOT a dis on George, as I am impressed that he has accomplished so much and tackled stories that need to be told and would never have seen the light of day without his name value attached to it, but rather a statement as to the educational level and intellectual differences of the two of them.

Well hard to say what is meant by "on his level". As I understand such comparison usually (and is quite common actually) means that couple have something very much in common, whether it is their background, education, financial situation. So a doctor marrying a doctor, both coming from families with doctors are" in the same level" , doctor marrying a nurse and you might hear people say she married up and he down. Just an example.

Yes if this quote is 'genuine' It says two things:
1. If this really is a friend of George's then it reflects back on George completely and his real attitude and thoughts on women.
2, Although I am sure George has a variety of friends from all walks of life he has many female friends/acquaintances I just hope
they never asked/or discussed their career with him on any level.

I know that George does not normally give these stories any air but I am sorry this time George needs to speak up and shoot this down now his silence only confirms what this 'friend' may or may not have said.

George's friends wouldn't speak to the press, they value his friendship too much. It doesn't matter what the press write they have to write something so they make it up. I would hope George and the women he has dated ignores the non sense.

Since when does education make you a better person than someone else? Maybe some of the previous women didn't have the same opportunities to study or have the same doors opened to them. What is up with this constant judgment of people? Geesh...you have no idea what someone has been through or what they have had to endure throughout their lives. Not everyone has the wonderful opportunities that Amal has had and that's great for her, I'm happy she's taken full advantage of them. But don't pass judgment on someone else because they didn't have the SAME opportunities because you have no idea what their lives were from the beginning.

Just a thought, majority of us would never have heard of Amal Alamuddin, without his Nibs name attached to it. There are many, many attractive human rights lawyers. In years to come if "question time" or "Sky News" need a panalist for an issue, having a handle to your mug doesn't do any harm .... jmo

Lord, I hate to say this, but that whole "on HIS level" quote drives me bananas. I love me some GC, but lets be honest here, his level is LOW. I am not talking about education. Yes, he only has his three quality FRESHMAN years at NKU, but he has proven himself to handle himself even with the greatest leaders and intellectuals of our time. However, I am talking about his romantic choices prior to this one. If he has just recently dated at his level, what does this say about Stacy and the rest of the bunch. Are they less than a man who pooped in a litter box. I would think not. They may have had less than noble intentions, seeking only to use him, but isn't he using them for sex and companionship knowing full well that it will never be more than that. I have never been that big a fan of his choice in women, but these women are just playing to cards they were dealt. Amal may be at his supposed level, but that actually speaks less of her than what people perceive it to be. If she is HIS level, then be prepared to be manhandled George by a women with a law degree who has no intentions of ever marrying you and will only use you until she moves on to someone else. I would think that she is better than that, and I get the feeling she will have her heart broken by someone perceived to be on "her level."

I am curious to know how many of you would speak so George if he had not the face that has the charisma and sympathy. George is brilliant and proves it is often intelligent and has used her beauty, her sympathy and her charm even to do something important in the world. Just think for a moment if he was not George Clooney and his name was John Smith and instead had made Darfur in Sudan and many more things than those made by George, you would have never heard of him? Amal is not at the level of culture and intelligence as George, Amal is superior to him, she is a graduate of Oxford which is better than Harvard and there are not allowed normal brains, she speaks several languages and George for over 12 years which is very time in Italy still has major problems to speak Italian.

I'm late to the party but..

katie that oompah loompah comment had me rolling!  Thanks for the laugh.

love the pink coat too.

She's got more "book" education but really in the end, life experience can teach you just as much if not more so whatever "levels" they may be on when in comes to formal education is a moot point in my opinion.

College educations only tell employers that you are trainable and graduating tells them that you are able to complete assignments.

What's more important, IMO, is what you learn in the real world that really makes the difference.  So for me, her more extended education is good for her work, but really doesn't make her any better or any less than George.

At this point really, all that really counts is if they enjoy each others company and if they share common interests and if she can handle the very bright media glare that will accompany their relationship for as long as they are together.

Hope this works out for both of them.

I remember the first time I saw George in person and was a bit knocked over by how thin he really is in person.

I like her looks and I don't normally comment about "looks" at all with the gals he dates.

Kind of true, kind of not. Sometimes George has had his friends (one of the boys) speak to the press when he wanted certain information out there, and I mean the tabloids.

But generally that's correct, his close friends keep their mouths shut unless asked to by George.

LOL! I'd completely forgotten that! I think I use 'smitten' as an indication that the relationship is on the skids and the count down to the end is starting up.

Hopefully we get a bit more time of George'n'Amal before we reach our first 'smitten' quote.

George Clooney has met his match with what appears to be his new girlfriend ... and if he doesn't marry this one, it ain't happening, period.

George and Amal Alamuddin were leaving the ritzy Carlyle Hotel in NYC Tuesday night when a photog snapped this pic.

How to say ... this chick has credentials.  She's a lawyer (schooled at Oxford and NYU School of Law) who specializes in international law and has represented WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. She is fluent in French and Arabic and co-wrote a book entitled, "The Law and Practice of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon."

And she's hot.

So if George is looking for a babe -- check. lf he wants someone smart who can hold her own in a conversation -- check.  If he wants someone who already has a career who isn't interested in becoming a star -- check.

Which brings us to the question ...

I'd image it's a tad over use of the tone feature in the NY pictures.
You're very right. The only question I have is if ALL the pictures from New York show him as orange then he probably was orange because it's not possible all the photographers and then all the picture editors made the same colouring decision on the pictures.

I also thought the same, she looks thinner and haggard.

She looked very uncomfortable. I think we have it on another thread (just got home) but RG and GC had a Casamigoes event today.

If AA is supposed to be a major player in the legal arena, how is she getting all this time away from the office and her famous/high paying clients? Washington, safari and now NY. May not seem like a long time away from work using George's time table , but for a lawyer, eh, seems like her clients are not going to be doing cartwheels over this.

I don't think you can read anything into the hotel pictures except that two people have probably been traveling for a couple of days, just got off a 16 hour flight, and walk out of their hotel into a barrage of lights and cameras. I'm guessing they're tired and could have happily done without the attention - even if it was arranged by his PR people.

P.S. @ Justpassinthrough - Intellect has little to do with education. There are plenty of people who have post-graduate degrees and are as dumb as a post. If anything, they just had staying power.
