I'm actually laughing at myself too. I'm obviously in the first blush of a new found infatuation, filled with blind worship and hopeless adoration. I'm sure that will go away and poor GC will end up in my sad heap of worn out celebrity crushes. Just kidding George. I'm yours for life!!! asskiss1

Please don't get me wrong. I laughed because it was sweet! Not because it was bad. I have to remind myself he's only a man!

Yes of course I have met G. And I have met and flirted with many, many other A-listers. Let me tell you, Pierce Brosnan gives great neck massages. Clint Eastwood is also very flirtatious and charming when he rubs a girl's bare shoulders. Since I have never owned a camera phone, I don't have pics. Also I didn't know that those on sets with "advanced phones" could send pics to one's email. But I would never, ever want to act like a silly fan; better to act reserved.

See letting a married man rub my neck or my shoulders isn't what I would class as being reserved. There wives wouldn't be so happy about them getting so close to an extra either. There is a tonne of people on set and I doubt they would be happy about them touching anyone. I thought you had met George's assistant and George had sat and listened. So what did George say? Did he give you a good neck rub too?

When I first got on COH I tried to explain why the "acceptable standards" between men and women, married or not in Hollywood are very different than everywhere else. Actors have on-set affairs, rather than divorce because of the separations. No I have never slept with anyone to advance my career, even if I thought that the star was VERY appealing. And on sets the director usually knows my name and sends over an assistant to ask extremely personal questions. Strange when someone you have never met knows to many things about you already. The only difference with G's assistant is that the recorded conversation was much more lengthy and involved a detailed description of G's homes, as well as other things one does not normally tell a fellow actor. I now realize that I went into total shock. It is frustrating when people on COH don't believe me when I'm trying to be as honest as possible. That's why I'm unsure of how much I should TRY to explain.

Perhaps I should move all conversations to PM. I don't want to be accused again of playing games on COH. I have also been told that I talk to much about myself here. I waited along time to post in this section for those reasons.

*plugs my ears. Tra la la la la la...* lol!

Please don't get me wrong. I laughed because it was sweet! Not because it was bad. I have to remind myself he's only a man!
So, Please let us know the rest of your encounter! Please?

I do feel a little silly, but I do have to admit to being amused by my giddiness. I'm far too old for it, but you know...it's fun! Anyway, without droning on too much, onward with the rest...

The second time we chatted was right after New Years. Another Q and A. I do have to give the man props for doing what he had to do to try and get that Oscar. Razz I met him and his guy (who quietly handles security and is very discreet - as are all of the folks who work for G, at least in my experience. They are kind, unobtrusive and discreet - and want to remain incognito). Anyway, I met them at our private entrance to escort them to the greenroom once again. To my surprise G remembered me without prompting:), and asked about my holidays. I remember thinking what a nice gesture it was on his part. He certainly didn't have to. So as we made our way to our destination we chatted briefly about the holidays - he was sorry I had to work, his were very nice thank you etc.

Back in the greenroom, I offered him some wine, but he declined this time. He joked something to the effect that he would wait til later as he didn't want to drink and then say something stupid that would end up on youtube. affraid

Ah, yes I forgot to say that this time around he was wearing that jeans/boots/t-shirt/ensemble that have become so familiar. Thud. (I may become a closet Bengals fan...)Very distracting indeed. I left him there alone for a few moments and then returned with the projectionist for the screening that night. When I reflect back on it, it all seems to surreal now. There we were, just the three of us, having a private chat about 35 mm film (he has two 35 mm projectors at his house) vs digital, the irritating proliferation of 3D films, how someday actors will be obsolete, the grueling promotional tour for the film - he wasn't complaining but he HAD done a lot of them. Part of his job. I empathized, but jokingly told him "don't get me wrong...I'm not saying I feel *sorry* for you." He laughed and nodded in knowing agreement that he lives a life unobtainable to most of us; and that lead to us talking about his job as woman's shoe salesman. I think I recounted the highlights of that subject in the introduction thread so I won't be redundant, but we had a good time making fun of the idea that for some reason many women feel the need to torture their feet into 6 inch heels to the point of pain, disfigurement and hammertoes.

We discussed how "The Descendants" was finally going to open up nationwide the next week, and so there was a big publicity push on the horizon. (we had already been showing the film for nearly six weeks). We talked about "Ides" a bit and he delightedly recounted how much he had making that film. At the time, it all seemed so normal. This conversation. It was like the three of us had had this conversation many times. (although I suppose he probably has. ha!) It was all very relaxed. I never once caught him looking at his watch, trying to find a way to extract himself from us. Laughing Looking back, it all seems so surreal now. Hanging with George. He was just a quick witted, interesting man...not one of the most famous people on the planet. But that is part of his charm. The ability to make people feel as though they have his full attention. Don't get me wrong, I don't think for one minute his chats with me were the least bit meaningful to him, but he made it *seem* as though they were. A very good actor, that man. Very Happy

He asked me if I knew who else from the cast would be joining him, and he was very hopeful that
Shailene Woodley would be there, as she is "a lot of fun!" He is obviously very fond of her. By that time, some of the other cast and publicists had made their way into the room, and that was my cue to step away and carry on with the rest of the evening. After the Q and A - which was for the Screen Actors Guild - he stayed and signed every autograph request, and graciously let people take photos with him. We gently guided him towards the stage exit, where his Man Friday swooped him away into the night.

I did see him again 2 weeks later for the same reason. He didn't arrive until later this time, so I didn't have much chance to chat beforehand, but I did have my "OMG I'm ded" moment. As he was waiting in the shadows, alone, he was casually leaning against the wall dressed in those jeans and leather jacket, hands in his pockets. He seemed a little pensive, reflective. I approached him, said hello and asked how things were going. He smiled and said it was nice to see me again...and then he put his hand on my shoulder, gave it squeeze and asked how I was *holding up.* That's when I'm pretty sure my knees buckled. And I thought to myself "I was holding up fine. Until now. Squee." So I felt 18 again, melted in my own special stolen moment with the coolest guy in school. Cool

As he was leaving I had a chance to congratulate him on his Golden Globe win and to wish him luck with the Oscars (it was the night before Oscar noms were announced). We waved our goodbyes and away he went.

Is George perfect? Of course not. It's our flaws that make us interesting. But he is without question a decent, warm and caring human being; and I feel very lucky to have been sprinkled with a little of his stardust!

Okay, now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Oh, someone asked if I had pictures, but no. I never take photos of our celebrity guests; as that would be unprofessional of me. Also, they get enough of that elsewhere, you know? However, THIS photo taken was posted by someone on twitter after the Jan 4th Q and A:

Thank you thank you thank you, Astras, for sharing your experiences!
Well written and so personal-- transports one to the scene...

I am surprised there are not more questions from the peanut crunching crowd! So, I got asked and I am just passing on the the silliness--going to ask on behalf of all the curious since you were close enough ( and, what the hell, why not just keep feeding the fantasies of those with high olfactory modality) Does Clooney wear an identifiable cologne?
Does he walk in some heady scent as Milosz's angel wafting in the smell of apples at the close of day or smell like plain old soap?

A close girlfriend worked as a medic on several LA sets with G. She was always the last person to leave, by law. Sharon had several conversations with G in his limo, in the course of her job. She said he was always very concerned about how he looked for his fans who could be watching. Even if it was very hot outside, he still wanted to look perfect. Perhaps he felt that he was fulfilling his role as a star, or that he was a little insecure about his looks, or that he wanted to always be in control of a situation where anything could happen, she wasn't sure. Although Sharon agreed with me that G is a little shy or hesitant at first, they did have several nice conversations. Sharon is very Irish (and looks it) but she also has Native American ancestry. She grew up far from the West Coast, like G, and has traveled because her husband was in t he military. Anyway Sharon had some very positive things to say about G. We have both met and talked with many, many stars.

I don't know how fantasy pleasing this will be, but I didn't detect any cologne on Mr. Clooney. At least nothing that perked my olfactories and made them take notice. However, he was as fresh as a drizzle of Creme De Menthe on a hot summer day. Cool

You go girl!

Hey, I suffered through a weekend of watching some show called Strike Back which was offered free for the weekend on our cable. It was described as an action series--it pretty much is lots of women who we "get" to see completely naked--full frontal followed by men's butts. Let down. It was the worst series I've ever seen. We ended up betting everytime a new female character appeared, how long it would take for her to remove her clothing and have 2 minutes of absolute ecstacy (yes, 2 whole minutes Lorna!) with one of the main male characters. Either on top on the bed or on a dresser, chair or you name it. Even during gun fights, women just couldn't keep their clothing on!

Anyway, to get back to your original supposition about not seeing George in the Flesh, I would really like to know why in all of our movies and cable shows, we females are not provided with the same level of entertainment that our male friends are. Even in Solaris and The American, the actresses showed all while all we got to see of George was his behind end.

Post by Way2Old4Dis on Tue 02 Apr 2013, 21:04

I was doing some work for a small prodco that had an office in the same building as George's company, and I had to run for the elevator with an armful of documents. And Mr. Clooney himself held the elevator for me and offered to help me with the docs. Of course, he was carrying a to-go cup of coffee (?) and a large briefcase himself, and I didn't really need the help, but it was nice of him to ask anyway. Asked me which floor I needed, pressed the button, asked if I was as busy as I looked, and then stood in the elevator doorway so it wouldn't close on me (it wouldn't have). Said something like "maybe I'll see you around" as I was leaving. T-shirt, jeans, sunglasses. Clean hands and fingernails. (One of the first things I notice.) Smelled good, though not cologne-y (I hate heavy scents).

Seemed to be a genuinely nice guy. And most pictures don't do him justice, IMO; they don't convey the presence he carries.

This was probably 5-6 years ago.

If any of us deserves to meet him "in the flesh" Mazy it is you! With all your work on Darfur and the other causes you hold dear to your heart, it would be lovely if you could meet the man you said steered you towards you activism today.

Mazy and i BOTH are active with our causes. I had one but it fizzled from lack of interest from other people. i will go back to it again when I have a better grasp on it.

That woman, at least, will never be troubled by 'what ifs'.
