And they chose to pose in front of Cupid Complaining to Venus by Lucas Cranach the Elder this time....
Whose idea?
Laughing

Goes with the film theme though. It was part of Hitler's private collection once.
Clever publicity.

The National Gallery's exhibit that has been saved by the Monuments Men - but I get your drift.........

Silliness from something else - Lapo Ellkan owns La Baglioni group of hotels - Milan and London included, and someone's twitter page shows her having a cup of tea there the other day...............

@pa-not! - it's quite a nice, small almost boutique hotel.
I went there after I saw Natalie Cole in concert at Royal Albert Hall last Oct. Very dark bar.

Don't forget the Live streams available......May be covered on Sky News too ?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

George Clooney will be in London's Leicester Square tonight for the premiere of his new film The Monuments Men.

The Hollywood heartthrob wrote, directed and stars in the Second World War comedy, inspired by the true story of a team of soldiers on a mission to rescue valuable artwork stolen by the Nazis during their invasion of Europe.

Clooney will be joined by co-stars Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban and Hugh Bonneville on the red carpet at the Odeon Leicester Square cinema from 6pm.

The Second World War art heist caper also stars Cate Blanchett.

George Clooney is holding a press conference to promote the film at the National Gallery this morning.

The Monuments Men opens in cinemas on Friday February 14 2014.

They've been going non stop for several weeks now. I give them all credit though for being there for the film. No one is dropping out - they're all there and that says a lot to their work ethic and commitment.

Of course, it also could be that they all have back end points too. brahahahaha!

Yes I'm very impressed by their efforts too.

But then again, they may like staying out to play after bedtime and not want to go home,
like all kids who love being together do ? !

Either way, it's been great fun to share in it all.

Just as well they didn't have the press conference at the British Museum.  Laughing

Many of the artefacts that comprise its collection are from various parts of the woorld. The Elgin marbles are permanently on display there. Also, Persian, Ming dynasty, ancient Egyptian, Viking, Aztec, etc... Very interesting.
Why the Elgin Marbles are such an issue is because of how they were acquired & what they mean as national symbols to Greek identity.

Now Bill Murray is drawn into it too. But it's additional publicity. Controversial but effective.

The photographers are outside Yates.....public are opposite.

Long red carpet with low barriers either side. They're covered in pictures of the cast
Individually, dressed in charector.
Still some spaces in the crowd along the barriers.

Some info about the UK red carpet.....

George was the first to arrive around 6pm....still out there after 7pm.

Interviews snippets:

George was the only one to kiss the blonde interviewer for the evening, asked her if she was cold. Said it was very warm down there, meaning the warmth of the crowd I think. He and Bill are sharing a suite, great fun he said. Said Matt was a diva and wouldn't come out of his trailer when filming.

John was asked what was the best thing about George's directing and he said he's SO pretty in a girly
voice.

Bob was asked about any dirt on George. He said he'd been looking for some for many years and never found any.

Matt's wife wore a lovely shiny burgundy coloured long dress, bare shoulders again
in the cold. She's a real trouper IMO. I noticed that from the back she had her hands on his back and patted him about four times. They then moved on, maybe a secret signal to him that she was cold ? Sweet couple.

Bill said he was missing the bratwurst. (sp ?)"

Hugh said George was very cruel to him, locked him in a cupboard and
poked him with a stick.

Obviously they all said serious things about the story and the bravery of
the hundreds of men & women who searched for the treasures.

They all seemed very relaxed and happy and all stayed out with the fans for over an hour, signing and having personal photos taken.
At the end of the transmission they were all together clapping the fans and
taking fancy bows !

Maybe they were pleased to hear English again. Lol

Thanks Joanna for the rundown....

What I like about MD's wife is that she shows up....takes some photos with him but then when he talks to the press she disappears....I remember when Behind the Candelabra was I think in Canne last year I didn't even realize she was there until I saw one photo of them leaving....Oh and I like her dress....

Very interesting to watch the whole event live. I felt like I was there.

I have a feeling that G is getting tired...no wonder...every day different city...on the red carpet, he seemed to me like he needs to get some sleep and relaxation in wellness. When does this tour end? Tomorrow he is in Paris and then...I hope he will get some rest. I care about his health.  lip smack

I guess there is not much time for everyone to do a promotion tour that long and I guess they haven chosen countries where they expect or hope great success and plus countries who can identify with the story which happened in the second world war and that is USA and Europe.

Something is missing here and it´s Russia. Russians were a big factor in World War II.
Also big for Hollywood: giant country with own bad pop music and movies hardly anyone likes. Huge market.  cheers
