Where the heck is chat at Sisie?

Go to the bottom of the home page. Once inside you need to click Log In in the upper right hand corner of the chat room.

I was sending a PM and missed some Peeps - quick chat

Katie, a bunch of us had our first chat for almost 2-1/2 hours. Don't worry, we didn't talk about you (much)!

Never EVER worry about that PigLove! I think that I'm speaking for a few others when I say a sense of humor is sometimes essential in chat. There are times that several conversations are going on at the same time. Sometimes when you get your comment entered, 3, 4, 5, sometimes 10 other comments have already come through. Your comment will make absolutely no sense where it lands in the comments. That, in and of itself, can be very funny. Don't be afraid!!!!!

what means if someone is 'away' in chat ?

online or not online ?

It means someone was in chat but inactive for a long period of time. They may still be there, or they may have forgotten about it and gone away.

Please bear in mind that your chat messages can stay in the box for some time after chatting as it will keep around the last 200 posts.

I've made a few of you moderators for the chatbox (currently Sisieq, Casey and Lighterside) so you must remember to type /clear at the end of your chat to clear what was in there.

If anyone wants to use the chat, just post here and I'll give you admin rights too.

By "admin rights" does that means a person has been cleared to type away in the Chat Box?

If by "moderators" you mean someone who has authority to "be in charge", I need to decline. Has nothing to do with ANYONE here, but due to other responsibilities. Thanks for thinking of me!

Thanks Katie! I have a question about how long the comments will "linger" should we forget to "clean up" behind ourselves when we leave. Did the comments from our first chat stay until you came back, for example?

Sorry for the confusion, I meant I've given what's called 'moderation rights' in the chatbox (and the chatbox only) to a couple of people who I thought might use the chatbox.

The reason for that is a person needs moderation rights in order to be able to clear the comments after the conversation, so anyone who wants to use chat should let me know and I'll give them moderation rights in the chatbox too. It has no effect on the forum.

It seems to keep the last 200 posts so I saw the tail end of a chat (not sure when that was) with everyone saying goodbye to each other and making dinner! LOL You didn't miss anything...it was a very tame first chat I'm happy to say! I was just curious what would happen if we forgot...aging brings along it's only "memory" issues, don't ya know!

No chat room. The only chat on this forum is the one at the bottom of the index page. The only people who can read what's going on in chat are those in the chatbox.

Just remember to use the code /clear once you're done and it will delete everything that was in the chatbox. If you forget . . . well, the last 200 posts of your chat will stay in the chat box for the next visitors to find.

Okay, totally understand now, thanks for your patience!!!

I did a test and then used the /clear and it worked just fine. FYI to all: the clear happens while you are still logged in so you can tell that it worked.

Vi, about the "away" - in the chat, everyone's nic will be listed on the left who are logged in for a chat. If you click on your name, there are different options, if you click on "away" it tells the other chatters that you are still logged into chat, but away from your computer and that's why you are not talking in chat.

It takes the place of typing BRB (be right back). The "away" is MUCH better because if you type BRB and the conversation is going fast, someone may not see it. Hope this helps.

Yep, rights remain unchanged.

/clear and /cls are the same thing. Either will work.

I agree I think our chat was way more interesting then the broadcast. Anne and what his name tried but they were right they aren't comedians and that sort of show really needs humour. Well at least to me even the speeches were tedious but then aren't they always. No surprises either pretty much followed all the other award shows.
