This collection of behind-the-scenes “B-Roll” footage has arrived online for writer-director-star George Clooney’s ‘The Monuments Men,’ which is set for February 7th in the US and February 14th in the UK. Co-written by Grant Heslov, the film’s stellar cast also includes Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville and John Goodman. Based on the book ‘The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History’ by Robert M. Edsel, the film concerns the story of the “Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives program, an Allied group, tasked with saving pieces of art and other culturally important items before their destruction by Hitler during World War II.

The true action-thriller focuses on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.

Interesting article it's me. I liked what she said about George LOL

The Monuments Men is directed by her good friend George Clooney.

‘The problem with George,’ she sighs, feigning disgust, ‘is that he’s so god-damned ugly! Sexiest Man Alive? Maybe – a couple of decades ago! Seriously, he’s a very good friend and a great raconteur and it was great to work with him again.

‘We worked together before on The Good German in 2006 – which was also about the Second World War. My husband has started to ask, “What is it with you and George and the Second World War?”
