Yeah less than a month

 

Saw a preview in a movie theater yesterday. Their were laughs at the comic scenes and this preview was much better than others I have seen.

Berlinale starts on the 6th. MM is not the opening movie. So maybe 7th or 8th....we will see

Just realized the Olympics start this week with opening ceremony on Feb 7th----wonder if it will affect the boxoffice?

Well I don´t know if it will have an effect. Let´s see...

Winter Olympics have already started several weeks ago. New sport is manhunt (includes women) all around North Caucasus. No broadcasting time for it. Area for the event is outside of "ring of steel".

Opening is interesting. You get to see lots of flags you have no idea which country they belong. Everyone loves figure skating, especially pairs, but subjective scoring ruins everything. Right pair never wins.

Other annoying thing is commentators. We can see perfectly well that "landing" in ski jumping wasn´t technically successful. There is a crater on a ground and first aid crew is rushing in. All we care about rest of the jumpers is that they land on their skis and standing.

All of the alpine events are inherently dangerous too. It is not uncommon for serious injury or even death to occur.

The biathlon? This endless cross-country skiing race, which is interrupted by frequent stops to shoot at series of targets. Usually they miss and ski another 50 kilometers as "penalty lap". Learn to shoot or change the sport!

Ice hockey. It´s big. Boxing on the ice. Players are big. Rears as haystack, most of the front teeth missing, for some reason these men spit a lot while being interviewed.

Anyone, remember who won gold medals in curling last time? I don´t either.

Yep, I don´t know about you but I´d rather go to the movies.

I don't think so, it is no that kind of a movie, I would say it will collect about 30 million in the first week which is brilliant..

Playing at 3,083 locations, The Monuments Men is going to open in a distant second place this weekend. Starring George Clooney (who also directs/writes/produces here) and Matt Damon, the World War II drama was originally slated for a December release, but was pushed back at the last minute to allow for more time in post-production. While this took it out of contention for Oscars, it also kept it away from the tough late-year competition.

On paper, The Monuments Men sounds like a cross between Inglourious Basterds and Ocean's Eleven: the story finds a group of art historians tasked with going behind enemy lines to recover stolen art from the Nazis at the end of World War II. Unfortunately, those movies were both stylish fun, whereas The Monuments Men looks like a history lesson. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though it does make the movie a tough sell to younger audiences.

While older audiences are more likely to be intrigued by the set-up, the terrible reviews (30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) will make some think twice. Fandango is reporting that the movie is selling in line with Captain Phillips and Lee Daniels' The Butler; that suggests the movie could open to around $25 million. Sony is more modestly projecting a debut in the high-teen-millions.

Bar for Success
By animation standards, The LEGO Movie is fairly inexpensive (roughly $60 million budget), and it's going to hold well over the next few weeks. Anything above $35 million should be considered a win. Meanwhile, The Monuments Men needs at least $20 million, while Vampire Academy is in good shape if it gets to $15 million.

I liked the film. It is not my favorite, but it is very good. I didn't like one thing, but I am not going to tell. I will let you guys go see it when it gets to your area, and you tell me what the one thing was.
