Nick Clooney Biography

The NHS isn't perfect but it is there when you need it......the day before Xmas Eve my mum collapsed on the bus...taken straight to hospital....into a bed....blood tests...x-rays....kept her in another day just to be sure she was OK (wobbly heartbeat)...she wasn't very happy because it's her birthday on Xmas Eve ...anyway they let her out on Xmas morning....as Katie said already paid for from her NI for working from the age of 15 to 70....

Great news, glad Nick is home. Nina will look after him and I'm sure the only grandkids in the world will go visit him.

Let's hope he takes some vaca time, and have himself a little R&R.It's no wonder George works like he does take a look at his role-models.

Good news on Nick Clooney:

Nick Clooney has been released from George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., after observation for a severe headache. Clooney, 77, “has left the hospital and is home resting,” said Stan Rosenfield, the Los Angeles-based publicist for Nick’s son, actor-director George Clooney. I don’t know if he was released today or last night.

Here’s my blog yesterday about Clooney going to the hospital Tuesday while in the nation’s capital for the Newseum’s “Reel Journalism” movie program. The illness prevented him from speaking at the Montgomery Woman’s Club Town Hall lecture series Wednesday and Thursday.

Has anyone heard what caused his headaches (that is other than exhaustion)?

I would suspect they probably thought it may be a brain aneurysm or maybe a tumour, which explains why he went to the hospital to get checked out.

sandwiches, thanks for your reply. There was a video a while back where George told someone during an interiew that aneurysms run in the family. That's why I was concerned. Also thanks for showing me how to spell aneurysm. I murdered the word in another post.

lol! I had to spell check on Google.

I didn't know it ran in the family, makes sense why he went to the hospital.

I'm glad Nick is ok. I do hope that he will continue to see the family doctor to make sure things stay under control.

Now in the US, if you want free health care, just be illegal immigrtant. I work, make a very low income (I am at poverty level) and I cannot get medical care or assistance when I need it! Go figure

George Clooney's dad to make speech after illness

CINCINNATI (AP) — Actor George Clooney's 77-year-old father plans to keep a speaking engagement, a week after he was hospitalized in Washington.
The University of Cincinnati said Monday that Nick Clooney has confirmed he plans to give be on campus Tuesday night to give a scheduled lecture about the impact of journalism and media on world events.

The elder Clooney is a former Cincinnati TV newscaster and was once a host on the American Movie Classics channel, now AMC. A publicist says he was in Washington to be part of a movie program last Tuesday when he went to a hospital with a severe headache. He was kept for observation and was reported released on Thursday

No. I was nine years old in 1971, so I never got to see the show live. However, on May 3, I got to see Nick give a lecture at the Univ ersity of Cincinnati. Yes, I have a lot of respect and admiration for Nick and Nina. All the time I was growing up in Cincinnati, I never thought that I would have this opportunity come my way. Now, if I could see George in person, my happiness would be complete. Maybe I could get to shoot a one-on-one game with George

George inherited Nina's hair curliness and NIck's super hair thickness. That genetic combination made George's hair be too thick and curly to wear longer. George is better off with a shorter haircut.

True dat, Katie. Nick was a hands-on, first-hand source kind of newsman. He wanted to get the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and he would settle for nothing but the best when it came to news reporting. He was considered the best newsreporter in the Cincinnati area.

Love that. Nick loved his job and was very good at it. I wish more newsreaders were like him.

I came across this documentary of the Appalachians. Nick Clooney in there commenting (4:20- and later). He talks as if the family is from the Appalachians. Interesting...

Nick Clooney has relatives in the Maysville area, which is not far from Appalachia. HIs roots are northern Kentucky/eastern Kentucky. His relatives are considered Appalachian, but they are more country/farm folks, not the stereotypical "hillbilly."

There are also parts 2 to 4 on youtube.
Is Nick commenting on those too ?
