December Chit Chat

Post by Carla97 on Sat Nov 30 2013, 21:08

Last day of November! I don´t know if anyone else has this problem,
but what to get for a person who has "everything" (as a xmas gift)?
I need to have this figured out by 12/12! At the moment I can´t think of anything else but potato peeling cloves by Jimmy Choo, maybe I make it a set with the knife and towel. I bet she doesn´t have those Laughing Better ideas?

@Lorna: True, every year goes faster then the past year. That means we get older LOL. Scary...

Give her a handmade voucher from you to her. Giving her One Hour Of Your Time, whenever she may need it, whatever time, however far away ... her voucher will simply be redeemed.

Providence....a film by Alain Resnais.

For those who love films this is brilliant IMO.
As a huge fan of Dirk Bogarde, I first saw it in the 70's in the cinema and was blown away !
I now own the DVD.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Providence_(1977_film)

The film got lost for many years but resurfaced this year at Venice Film Festival, having been digitally remastered. I'm hoping that version will be available on DVD too !

I refused to go out shopping the day after Thanksgiving because I just cannot deal with unruly crowds.

Heard a gal in Ireland was seriously injured at a store, some folks were in a shooting, two guys got into a fight with a gun over a parking spot... and on and on.

Last place I want to be is with a bunch of folks who get themselves worked up into a frenzy over a $100 TV!

Yep I hear you - like shopping to a point but loathe it at Christmas time when people start fighting over car spots, sale items etc - take the joy out of it.

legal? I don't think TMZ would mind the extra hits to their website from a link here directing people there.

It looks like it was taken by a passing car and they may have sent it to TMZ on their own.

Many of these passing motorist or passerby videos are popping up on mainstream TV news shows because they are often first on the spot.

I suppose it's a catch 22. If you're the news outlet that doesn't show the video then you'll lose viewers or website hits.

And I suppose news organizations aren't too upset that they can get video often without paying or paying less than they would have to pay a professional news crew. And of course, their news crews can't be on the scene of every newsworthy event.

News reporting has changed and it's never going back to the way it was...

Absolutely true. Same with journalism. Often times comments give better insight to matters and have more expertise in them than the actual articles...

Change of subject, 3 days of 30+ degrees, been raining the last 2 hrs so now humid. So can't sleep but should as I get up in 6 hrs. On the plus side connected and turned on our outside Christmas lights, kids were really happy as we apparently don't have the saddest house in the street anymore, according to Mr I'm 4 and know everything!!

I didn't have a fireplace and it used to bother me when I was a kid. My Mom said that Santa was magic and that we had a sort of chimney which was just for show but the heat was released from it....Santa could magically use that to come into the house....

So remember Santa is magic and can make his own chimney. santa

Last year I told the eldest that I left a key under the mat for Santa to let himself in if he couldn't magic his way into the house - he was happy with that, my 4 year old is looking for a bit more pizazz I think. Also last year waited till they were in bed, then ran around the outside of the house with bells making that sleigh noise - snuck back inside to see them telling their Daddy that they heard Santa, hes on his way. They fell asleep very quickly as mine know that Santa can't come in any kiddies in the house are awake. Hubby also sprinkled baking soda all over the tiles and used his boots to make shoe prints, ate some of the cookies and half a carrot left for Rudolph. Think this year Santa feels like a drop of whiskey so may leave that out for him LOL

in many places  in Northern Italy  we have
Santa Lucia
(Saint Lucy)
who  carries toys and sweets to kids

she is blind
she has a donkey with her

usually parents use a ring
evenings before December 13
(her official day of coming)
so to make kids aware she is coming
and they have to be good IMMEDIATELY to have finally their gifts

sweet Very Happy

Lorna - pretty sure the neighbours thought I was mad particularly as their culture does not celebrate Christmas - yep do it your neighbours and you will be laughing all the way through to New Years.

I like the story of Saint Lucia It's Me - might tell mine that the next 21 days are Saint Lucia days so they are on their best behaviour - my 4 year old is not buying that Santa Clause has a telescope at the North Pole and can see him being naughty!!

"I have to give up upon him, that's too much hard work for the brain and I am a naturally blonde. I can only love" Yep, I see what you mean DIor. And I´m naturally bitch.

"I like his answer because it makes me think about my loves ." Yes Amaretti!

It really got me going too
I just had this vision, I tell you little bit about it
a guy was sipping his drink at the far end of the bar counter
How it made me feel when he looked at me and gave me his dirtiest stare
then looked away again.
I felt shattered.

All this time I was walking back and forth
hoping he would be passing through
and there he is my biggest dream come true.

He kept pulling me closer. A liquid sensation swooped throughout my body. It was the most dazzling thing I'd ever felt. And it kept growing. The vibrating heat expanding outward. I was surprised I was still able to stand...

He exists! He is somewhere out there and I just haven´t met him yet!
13.13.2013 seems like a good day for it.

Wonderful feeling, I really do wish he could finally find someone too and everyone who hasn´t met him or her yet....
Longs - hold on, big payday is coming
very soon! Smile
