The Power of Being Unlimited Empty The Power of Being Unlimited

Post by LornaDoone Fri 01 Nov 2013, 17:22

I was sent a link to this video and found it very enlightening.

The speaker is a comedian but he also does inspirational speeches.

Warning, he does curse in the video so if you're super sensitive then pass.

But I have to say, what he ultimately gets across is a lesson that I think is invaluable.  It's about not allowing your brain to limit the possibilities in your life.

Wow that was great to watch thanks Lorna. SO it is all about to ask the right question to yourself in order to get what you want.

So here is my question: How can I meet George CLooney?

Now when I repeat it over and and over I might find a solution and it will happen because I tell my brain that is what i want Very Happy

I like that video. Thumbs up!

Do you need to tell your brain that is what you want?

God it´s black outside il fait noir comme dans un four must be something in english too. So dark outside. Feels so empty...

Oh no, it was my glass that is empty. Friday I can have a glass or two Wink

I need something -- you think boyfriend
but nah,
I was thinking rottwailer or some other strong guard dog in the house. 49 mins and market closes. And "The route to Wellville" starts. It´s a movie on TV tonight. Very Happy

Both How and When are good starts but you stopped letting your brain find a solution.

If you really do want something Nicky80 or its me - for instance to meet George -- then you have to determine where is the most likely place he would be that would enable you to do that and then determine HOW you could get there.

If the second thought after your question "How could I meet George" was "Oh, that will never happen" then you've just limited yourself.

Before you even tried, you talked yourself out of it.

That's what this video is trying to make you understand.

It's not just asking the question - the next part is thinking what you need to do to achieve it.

See, it's easy to meet George, if you decide you want to go to one of his premieres.

Then you have to determine which one you'd be most likely to be able to get to.

Then you have to factor the cost of getting to it and what you would need to do to get the money to travel to that location.

The How question should bring about a series of possible solutions on how to achieve it.

And you also have to determine if it's something you really want or if it's just a nice dream that you have no intention of working to achieve.

Meeting George is just one example.

Many of the Hows might mean getting outside of your comfort zone.  The How might also entail expending extra energy than just sitting in front of your computer.

For instance if you would need airfare to get to a venue where George might be appearing then you might have to decide if this is something you really , really want then you might have to get a part time extra job to make the money you need to do this.

But this is true of anything else you might want to do.

For instance if you've dreamed of owning your own business, you would need to determine what you would need to do to make it happen.

The guy in the video also made a very important comment.  Many times obstacles were thrown at him but he didn't let them stop him from in his example becoming a comedian, he just found a way to overcome that obstacle because he started with the belief that he COULD achieve what he wanted.

Too many people automatically have a belief that they CAN'T do something and that belief becomes reality.

I think we have the capacity to achieve what we set our minds to.  Our biggest obstacle is often ourselves.

I like this...

The most important things in life require effort....
That fact is never going to change......
But effort doesn’t always have to imply a struggle.....
It takes effort to argue, but it also takes effort to really listen....
It takes effort to read too deeply into something negative someone said, but it also takes effort to read something positive at face value....
It takes effort to destroy something, but it also takes effort to create something....

Whether writing an angry email or gathering a bouquet of wildflowers – effort is involved.

Effort ---> success
It usually pays off in some rewarding way, even if only in self-gratification.
From physical well-being to work & all other accomplishments.
Don't wait idly; go out and make it happen.

Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.

So true Lorna thanks for that. Was nice to read. It's a great motivation. At the end it is ourselves who controls our own life. I let you know when I archived my goal and met George   Thumbs up!

The Power of Being Unlimited Empty Re: The Power of Being Unlimited

Post by LornaDoone Sat 02 Nov 2013, 21:24

Nicky80

I've been to several premieres where George has been in attendance.  It's a little easier for me since I live near enough to Los Angeles to get there.

I've always wanted to go to England and I also want to visit Australia.  So right now I'm working on a way to earn enough money to do both.

It means that my Saturday today is mostly being taken up learning something new so that I can apply it to a way to earn extra money.

I've also stopped going out to dinner with friends because it's too expensive at this point and it's money I'd rather save to meet my travel goals.

I found that I'm good at pissing away money if I don't focus so watching these types of videos also help me to stay focused on my goal.

Another thing I did some years back is I put together a dream board.  Basically a poster board with pictures out of magazines of things I wanted or of things I wanted to achieve.

George was on it as a "want to meet or see in person."  I achieved that one several years ago because I worked toward that goal.

Another is to travel. Another is to retire to a small cottage in the countryside.  I'm working on that goal for my retirement and have already determined where I will live - now it's just a matter of continuing to search real estate adverts to see if I can find what I'm looking for.  That one is not as urgent as I don't plan to retire just yet.  But I keep the goal visual on my dream board and it helps to keep me focused.  That board is posted on my front door so every morning when I start to walk out the door, I see my goals and it's a reminder not to get off track.

Now I will admit I did get off track due to circumstances that I wasn't able to control, but even that was eventually resolved when I put my mind to it and worked toward resolving that obstacle.

I think the internet is a great thing.  In one place you're able to search not only for what you might want, but also if you search correctly you can find other people who have achieved what you want and learn from them.

We are all on this earth for just a finite amount of time.   Do you want to spend it worrying about what some actress (who you really could give a rats ass about) is posting on her twitter account?  Or do you want to get out there and live the life you've dreamed of living?

It's a matter of putting your focus on things that let YOU live an abundant life.  That's why I posted the video.  As a reminder that we all have opportunities.  It's a matter of determining what we want, why we want it and then going out and figuring out how to achieve it.

Lorna, the idea to create a dream/poster board and to put that at the front door is amazing.

I like your goals I think it is important to have that feeling in life to chase something to archive.

I read once a book from Donald Trump "Think Big" that was very motivating and gave you the feeling you can have it all. I have the book on my desk and I look at it every morning to motivate me. My weakness is definitely planing a goal and stay focus. I could change a plan every day Embarassed  In this book it is written you should take at least 30 minutes a day to work on your dream. And if you think about that's not what everyone does but everyone does talk about dreams (unfortunately me included).

At the moment I don't have big plans like yours. Just small once.
You are so lucky that you were able to see George at the premier. You definitely worked on it and went to the premier. I want to do the same. I hope he does a premier in Germany for MM Very Happy  Otherwise there is still London. Wink  It is on my list.
And I love to have a dog. Everyone tells me "oh that's so easy just get one" but it is not as I work and travel so much I have no time for a dog. Time is what matters. But that is on my list too.

I think the idea about the dream board is so good I will try that too. It is so easy to loose track and forgot about it. Now I'm really exited about it Basketball Thanks for sharing that idea cheers

And you are so right we always need reminders about our opportunities.

I hope you archive your travel goals soon :-)

The Power of Being Unlimited Empty Re: The Power of Being Unlimited

Post by theminis Sun 03 Nov 2013, 06:21

A lot of what has been said resonated with me as I am a planner from my way back, extremely goal oriented. Finish school with good marks for college, check - get a good paying job, check, buy a house, check, marriage and babies, check that particular goal took awhile. So I did achieve what was on my mental dream board except I didn't add anything after the babies. I did remark to hubby the other day that years ago we made plans, lots of them, always had something to strive for and we haven't done that for awhile, was starting to feel a but all over the place, me being a planner and nothing wonderful to plan. So to that end travelling is now in my dream board, show the kids some of the world before we all get too old to enjoy Disneyland for instance. I have others to add but I think saving for a nice trip anywhere would be a good start, thanks for the video Lorna, inspiring.
