Clooney’s a lone wolf in NYC
By Page Six TeamOctober 2, 2013
Bachelor George Clooney’s reportedly been spending time with ex-flame Monika Jakisic after splitting with Stacy Keibler — but the “Gravity” star was rolling solo at No. 8 on Tuesday.
After midnight, following a party to celebrate his new film at the American Museum of Natural History, the star was spotted at the Chelsea hot spot with a group of 40 VIPs, including director Alfonso Cuarón, Connie Nielsen, CAA agents Kevin Huvane and Bryan Lourd and Patricia Clarkson. Also celebrating were Gerard Butler, Michael Stipe and Benicio Del Toro, fresh from a rival premiere of his “Jimmy P” at the New York Film Festival. (Lindsay Lohan popped by later in an unrelated incident.)
While Croatian model Jakisic was nowhere to be found, “George was in a great mood and was working the room, talking to all the friends who came out to celebrate,” said a spy.
The night before, Clooney held court at Cipriani Downtown with billionaire Ron Burkle, Clear Channel CEO Bob Pittman and the star’s Casamigos partners Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman. Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson stopped by their table. Clooney and pals were seen swilling his signature hootch both nights.
“Gravity” co-star Sandra Bullock has kept a lower profile in New York, but Clooney told us he and the actress, who’s getting Oscar buzz, bonded in Italy with her son. “[She is] a very good mom,” he said. “She takes very good care of Louis, but Louis does prefer a little man time . . . Sandy spent time in Lake Como with Louis, Alfonso and Rande. We had some very good ‘man time’ with Louis, played a little basketball.”
Bullock was at an Explorers Club luncheon for the film on Wednesday, where producer David Heyman recalled that on the first day of shooting, a glitch caused “a 2-ton robot with a camera” to break loose that could’ve crushed the actress.
Bullock quipped of the incident on the space epic, “It wasn’t a good ride. I’m glad to be back!”
When we asked legendary practical joker Clooney if he played any tricks on Bullock on the set, he slyly quipped, “This movie.”
