Tattoos - Question from theminis Empty Tattoos - Question from theminis

Post by theminis Sat 13 Jul 2013, 01:23

Hi Ladies
I have been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo for a long time - nothing gross more in tribute to my heritage and my Dad.

So Im wondering, do any of you have tattoos and if so, does it really hurt as much as I think it will.

Many thanks

I have two TheMinis. The first one was on my arm put there many years ago. I don't know if it hurt as I passed out! Really!!! The second one is on my leg above my ankle. It was uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Good luck and it sounds like a wonderful tribute for your dad and your heritage.

Thanks Mel - what I want is the title of Mum and Dads love song, particularly poignant as he sang it to her all the time, especially when she was terminally ill with cancer, but its so many letters and I think I may need valium to get through it.

Just have your tattooist write really fast!!!! You know, like ripping a bandaid off really fast!!??

One suggestion though - MAKE SURE that he/she knows how to spell!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know a couple of people who have tattoos and they say it doesn't really hurt, just uncomfortable, there is a spray or cream you can put on to numb the area before hand but the best advice i can give is to go to someone recommended and ensure they are legit and have a licence, do a good research before you decide

Like picachu said can´t emphasize enough the importance of making it safe.
Maybe it´s just me, but places where you can receive tattoos look scary.

Where do you want to have your tattoo?

I have none but my brother has many. Ok he is a guy and doesn't feel pain like us but even he said around the neck, cleavage and wrist it hurts as the skin is very thin.
His girfriend has one at the ankle which hurt a bit for her because of the bone. She got her ankle covered also the her upper leg (femoral)  LOL

Hope you find a good tattoo guy. Also when you check the studios make sure you check about the color they use. Some out there use cheap once which can cause cancer. Better spend more money and go to a good studio. And remember when you get older your skin changes and maybe your tattoo will change so choose a good location on your body. LOL

Can you still get the transfer types now ? I remember those from my childhood.
Then you could have a disposable trial run.

Many thanks for replies and tips. Firstly when hubby and I fell in love, we decided to get little scorpions tattoos to symbolise our same star signs, chickened out and hubby finds tattoos distasteful unless they are on Angelina's body apparently. So I was going for tattoo on hip but decided if I'm getting one to honour someone then it should be visible to me. So the wrist or forearm it is depending which tattoo I choose.

I don't like tattoos as it's a permanent label.
Like branding a cow.

But depending on the image, some people adapt that style well. Like rock musicians, sailors....

Well I did ask for opinions, but didn't expect me wanting a tattoo to be likened branding a cow!!! Hilarious, not really sure how you made that leap but to each his/her own.

Being that Im doing it to honor someone its a label that Id be very happy to wear with pride.

Moooo!!

If you like the permancy of it, go for it!
It's for sentimental reasons so you'll have a constant reminder.

I persoanlly like the option of having my flesh bare & unmarked.

I've tried 3 day semi-permanent tattoos of a rose or leopard on my ankle just for fun. Not something I'd want to keep.

They suit Angleina Jolie's image, who is clearly one of the most beautiful & elegant actresses in Hollywood, if not the most, according to Clint Eastwood. i agree.

Tattoos are marks on flesh like branding. Hence my comparison.
