Thanks for sharing this with us, Pizza. I've made it a new thread.

Berlin Extra accuses
So bad I was treated by George Clooney

Extra: Clooney treated us so badly

BERLIN -
"Only once in the movie business get a taste", wanted to Norbert K. (42). Spandau extras landed a role in Clooney's film "The Monuments Men". But the trip to the Dream Factory was for musical performers to Altered States.

With temperatures around freezing Clooney's crew filmed this week in the woods of Bog Lake Wannsee. "The Monuments Men" set during World War II. And so, Norbert K. felt even when used with hundreds of other extras on 12 March. "13 hours in which I was just a number. Where I was cold, hungry, and deprived of my freedom was felt to have landed in a real war. "

Norbert K. tells us his daily routine. 6.30 Clock: Arrival at Studio Babelsberg. "There we were first taken to the passport." After mask and costume were the extras down to location. Strict cell phone ban. Non-compliance: From home - without payment of the fee (55 euros for ten hours).

The worst recorded K. but the cold. The extras were barely heated tents, gloves and scarf were not part of costume and a warming tea K. landed it by 10 clock. Then came his deployment. The same scene again and again. To 14 clock in the fresh snow. Norbert K.: "I could not feel my toes." Then there was last coffee for the extras. "Unfortunately, not cups." So she sipped it from plastic bowls. Those who, like Norbert K., neither bread had gotten pasta salad, sucked sugar cubes. Questions after the end of the shoot? Prohibited.

Against 16 clock Norbert K. wanted to go home. But you did not let him go so easily. "I had the feeling of being trapped on an island. Without identity, without their own warm clothing, without a warm refuge, no public transport, no money, no clock, no cell phone. "

Anyway: Norbert K. was one of 91 lucky extras who were allowed to leave the location shortly after 18 clock. Others should persevere until 22 clock. On COURIER request stated the movie studio, the extras were regularly supplied with food and drink, have two heated tents and malaise the right to terminate the rotation. Sun his word against hers. For Norbert K. is certain: "supernumeraries? Never again! " SKA

Berliner Komparse klagt an
So mies hat mich George Clooney behandelt

Komparse: so mies behandelt uns Clooney

Publikumsliebling George Clooney

BERLIN –

„The Monuments Men“ spielt im Zweiten Weltkrieg.

Norbert K. schildert uns seinen Tagesablauf.

Verboten.
So far as I can see, he's complaining that the weather was cold, that he had to start early, that it was a long day, that he wasn't allowed to use his mobile phone and that the pay was low. Oh, also that he had to stay and finish the scene he was in and couldn't just go home halfway through. All things that should be expected, no?

What was he expecting? His own trailer?

The only fault seems to have been that the catering was a mess, running out of food and coffee cups.

Sad because the weather is so cold, A lot of people don't completely know what goes into making a movie. Long long hours and the same scene over & over again until it is perfect. It is not glamourous it's a lot of hard work, and also the crew has to stay till finished.

With about 350 extras someone messed up big time with the catering. Which I would assume is someone from the area and they might not have dealt with so many people at one time. Having owned my own restaurant I know how difficult it can be.

I am sure when the producer (Grant or George) get informed they will try to make better arrangements. Let's face it they don't want this kind of comments going on about MM. With the amount of money being spent on this movie they aren't going to cut corners on this, there are set standards for this. The pay I am sure it was know up front and all checks would get cut at the same time. This type of opperation cannot write single checks. Personally I had a payroll company every person was set-up on line with all their info I would just post there hours and the next day I would get a bundle of checks, to disburse.

I feel very badly for this young man but I don't think he knew enough before he took the job.

Sorry to generalise but experience tells me that this would be a typical reaction from a local in Germany.

Wow, that's harsh Joanna. You really think you can generalise the reactions of an entire country?

It's a typical reaction from someone who didn't know what he was getting himself into.

I suspect this young man might have been blinded by the whole brigh tlights scenario - and might have been hired to write a 'topical' piece.

The fact that there's always a hell of a lot of hanging around - and in this instance it's freezing cold, he should not have expected a four course banquet - he's an extra! His expectations were dashed. That's all

(german)

I have told you that I was cast in Goslar, Germany at the casting for the movie "The Mounument Men". I told you also posted a video with a link in here. So if one is extra, it's normal that you have to make the same scenes over and over that it can be hard at these temperatures, it is quite normal .... this is the Extra newspaper wanted to run only make important. He looks gay .... he also says that he "only" had a number and talk with George Clooney would not .... so what does he think? he IS DISCOVERED?? HAHAHAHAHA
I have been involved in an international film as an extra last year .... and if you already know that it currently is COLD in Germany, take a thermos filled with coffee with yourself!!!! (english) Lying

Well, Ridley Scott allegedly allowed extras to be treated harshly during Gladiator. Letting them freeze & starve for long periods. Reason was to capture misery & suffering in battle seasons.
Though maybe that comes down to the Assistant Directors' decision.

ADVICE = DON'T WORK FOR 55 EUROS.

Post by jessesims74 on Tue Mar 19 2013, 11:53

This guy has unfortunetly been taken for a ride.
You do NOT do any Film or Tv job for 55 euros. In the uk. FAA Rates ( uk) are as follows.
Basic day £83.72. (9 hour day)
Overtime every Half an hour £7.84.
Holiyday pay every job you do £9.00.
Travel £10.00 minimum.
ect, ect.
I can't believe how so many people get done like this. It's disgusting. You have to fight nearly every time on certain jobs for the correct money.

I feel sorry for the chappi.

Question:Doesn't it depend on the individual studio rates? Maybe he should take his grievances to Babelsburg Studios who are responsible
