Clooney on a secret mission in Merseburg

BY UNDINE FREYBERG, 14.02.13

George Clooney

MERSEBURG / MZ. Black wool coat, jeans, dark gray woolen hat and a three-week beard. The styling was perfect, probably no one has recognized him.

Oscar winner George Clooney had traveled on Thursday with an eight-member team secretly and quietly to Merseburg to go for his film "The Monuments Men" in Scouting.

Piazza Duomo, the cathedral and the castle courtyard were photographed from all possible perspectives with small digital cameras. In the castle courtyard Clooney explained with very sonorous, deep voice, as he imagines that someone from the cathedral steps into the courtyard, and a little later he was standing on the steps of the altar in the Cathedral, in front of him his "disciple" and by the church window, a thick beam of light fell directly on the U.S. star. Great cinema.

Perhaps you will soon see the heartthrob so frequently in the Cathedral City - where his film, which he directed and played the main role, is actually shot in Merseyside. "But what we still can not confirm," said Eike Wolf, spokesman for the Babelsberg Film Studios, where Clooney has a few weeks ago, even an office from which he operates in East Germany. Clooney is allegedly. With his team still in search of the appropriate locations

The novel adaptation "The Monuments Men" is recover the way of a group of U.S. art experts to be entrusted, by the Nazis during the war, stolen art. Clooney, who is also the producer of the film, has still got some high profile actors on board: Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, Matt Damon and Daniel Craig, for example. James Bond in Merseyside? Not a bad idea, but so far it has not, although the filming already should start in early March. And which cities are actually in the race, so make Clooney and Co. a big secret.

But if it would be in Merseburg? "That would be great," gushed Domführerin Beate Tippelt. "Great for our cathedral, which has never been seen in a feature film, and of course for the region."

Only for a short stop at Café ben zi bena was next to the motif search i in Merseburg still time. Carola Jülich and Diana Oberbacher brought the film crew coffee and espresso. George took the way a cappuccino.

"The presence of Mr. Clooney seems to have it literally had a healing effect on my wife," Klaus Oberbacher, head of the Arts Foundation told ben zi bena, smiling the MZ. "In the morning, my wife had a cold yet strong, but since Mr. Clooney was there, she just radiates."

MERSEBURG/MZ.

James Bond in Merseburg?

Yes thanks for the find. At least we know where he was. Lots of location shooting.... plus studio shooting.... It seems like it will be an elaborate shoot.

disappeared, and many many treasures which were centuries old. It was Capt. Walter Hancock, a revered sculptor in the US, and now with the US First Army as they advanced, who was on the spot for the Monuments Men.

So many threads to this story, and very very exciting
