Thanks very much lelacorb.

I believe this was taken a few years ago by a professional when George gave a tour of his villa to Barbara Walters ?
Am I remembering correctly ?

Thanks lela for the bedroom picture. I would definitely have a nice night and sweet dreams here.

But I just can't imagine him sleeping under a canopy. AND, where's his nighttime companion, his TV?

All rooms are decorated in this way, is an old house. He does not use the master bedroom because it is very big!

maybe this mattress has a demonic possession also?

I know what you probably meant to say on another thread about people suffering from a mental illness, but you and whoever reads this will know first hand I have a "mental illness" called depression.

I have never gone to seek counseling as I know I should, but I use to be able to handle times of losses in my life through working out and staying active. I have a few bumps growing older and don't bounce back like I use to and believe in my heart of hearts, we as a Nation need to recognize early stages of this disease to hopefully prevent anymore tragedies.

I was always the strong one in the family or with my friends, the one who everyone came to for advice, but I have become a sort of recluse last 2 years and thank God I don't own a gun. Peace, we the people, need that in our lives right now....

If one has a sensitive nature and an empathy with another's pain,
one can feel and absorb only so much before a type of burn out occurs, resulting in a depressive feeling. Talking it out with a professional may be beneficial, even though it can be a very painful and exhausting experience while doing so.
One has to think of the long term, I believe.

Just my thoughts on a very complex and difficult to understand human condition. flower

Dew I would have been a lush and anything you have to "get use to" enjoy just doesn't seem worth it to me...but whenever we all get together I got first round...I use to own a bar, little hole in the wall but it was fun watching everyone else get smashed I was always designated driver.....

Hi suebee - keep going forward with your baby steps and you'll eventually get where you want to be. And roasting chestnuts is extremely over-rated. LOL

thanks for those kind thoughts and I read the poem today and posted it on facebook. I pray by bringing a subject like mental illness to light for my first public addmission, that it may help somebody one day. We as a Country worry about image too much and it appears I have too for way to long. So thanks girls, see when I use proper computers the words are legible....I swear people must have thought I was a drunken hound dog with trying to type on that phone thing...I am not a phone person....so impersonal...

Okay, just have to put it out there - if I were in that room the absolute last thing I would be thinking of is straightening lamps etc - I mean really, would have enough on my mind chasing GC around that big bed!!

Suebee - in all sincerity - talking in this case is not over-rated, talk to a professional, it will help, and baby steps is exactly what you need to do, one day at a time and you will get there. Make a list of little things that you would like to achieve week by week can help in shifting your focus, nothing major like climbing Everest. Be kind to yourself, that's the most important thing.

Post by suebee on Thu Dec 20 2012, 00:51

thank you, theminis...I am learning to be a bit more selfish, self-centered and self-absorbed than I was in my last 25 years..lol

I actually am TOO BLESSED TO BE DEPRESSED and know this intellectually, but I am finding it ok to stay in bed all day...

I would have NEVER entertained the idea or thought before the last year and half.....but I still feel guilty and there is no one there to judge me except myself and then I end up talking to the cat about all the reasons why he should not be outside instead of sleeping all day in bed..hahahahahahaha and remember when someone said you start answering yourself is when you know you are not exactly all there....

so I guess, I am not all there anymore....

I feel like I don't know or have not felt the love that others talk about and wonder if what I call love, loyalty, respect, is just different then those who talk or write about love and I just haven't met mine yet......

I just always saw myself as single and was cool with it....if I kept busy enough I wouldn't think about being lonely because I was so busy being busy....

I would say if it was meant to be then God would find my mate and it would be on Faith not Sight, that we would meet!

Hi Suebee,
I am Mazy; I’m not one for doing these things like writing here. However, I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone. I have what they call clinical depression or they did back when… who knows what they call it today. I have to have medication to stay on an even keel, and noticing that it might be time to go back to therapy. The thing is that the holidays are always harder and with what is going on in the world to just adds to the problem. It is an illness like any other get help and do not become a shut-in, get out and find things to do before you stop doing anything.
Bless You and have a Peaceful Holiday

Re: Christmas gift

Post by LornaDoone on Fri Dec 21 2012, 04:04

Well not to be a spoils sport but if I walked into that room the first thing I'd do is tear off that god awful ugly bed spread and throw it out the nearest window.

The lamps would go next!

All the bedding would be replaced and the canopy would be gone too!

Give me a crisp white down comforter with a linen cover, plump down pillows (yea PETA kick me later) and lamps that were a bit more modern and less "looks like something my grandmother would still have in her rooms."

The house was redecorated by his assistant at the time and as much as she may have been a good assistant I've always thought the decor of the house was overdone and a quite gaudy.

Sorry, that's just how I feel about it.

I guess my issue is that I'm much more of a minimalist when it comes to patterns. Anything floral reminds me of the decor of the 50's. And strips/dots, etc. are too visually distracting and if not done well actually nauseating.

So this room does not appeal to me at all.

Besides, in the interview George did with Diane Sawyer, if I remember correctly, he said he didn't sleep in that room. It was used as a guest room and that he slept in a smaller room. I feel exactly the same, I would not be comfortable in a large room. In fact, I'd be uncomfortable in a large house. For me it's a paranoia thing. If I can't check all the rooms I'll never feel comfortable. I'd keep wondering if someone were hiding in the house.

I think it was a fear that developed as a kid. I watched a film called, "I Saw What You Did" the original film and when it came to the climax where they realized that the guy who had been calling the babysitter telling her "I saw what you did and I know who you are..." was actually calling her from a room upstairs in the house -- I freaked out!

I've never gotten over that fear - by the way - thanks a lot to the fucking writer who came up with that whole damn script. I hope you're happy! So that's why I don't like large rooms, bedrooms especially and overly large houses!

Great ceiling still an ugly ass bed spread! They could do better than that striped rag that looks like it's been on the bed since the 1800s!
