Google Translate Version - guess we can get the gist.

George Clooney spotted in resin
U.S. actor George Clooney has been spotted on Saturday in Quedlinburg in the Harz. Had signed up at a local restaurant, "a film group from Babelsberg," said the owner of "Central German newspaper".

To general surprise, then walked around noon, the Hollywood movie icon with a black leather jacket and a rather large sunglasses in the front door. Clooney was "a very Nice, calm and modest." He was elected by the board and decided on a White Burgundy. To eat there was pasta with wild mushrooms and arugula and veal liver with truffle gnocchi.

Adopting Clooney was ready for a group photo, and a guestbook. Then he disappeared with his men "like a normal tourist" and with backpack again.

QUEDLINBURG/MZ. In the restaurant "Benedict" in Quedlinburg already many prominent guest has can be culinary delights. Actor Moritz BLEIBTREU was, for example, already here as his colleague Cosma Shiva Hagen, tells till Schicker, which since 2004 has the restaurant at the historic market church yard and here even cooks. But on Saturday were all flabbergasted: World star George Clooney walked through the door, and a touch of Hollywood was blowing through the world heritage city.

Logged on a film set of Babelsberg, had for lunch are told Schicker. The speech was later of seven, initially of six people, Reinhard Kunze, who lives above restaurant and here with "the root" is reported. "We did not come." I had the feeling that is a celebrity here. That was already clear to me. "But no one has calculated with George Clooney", is till Schicker still surprised "that comes as a world Star".

Clooney, describes the restaurant owner, is "a very Netter, quiet and modest". He of the map chose,-in conversation with Schicker - opted for a White Burgundy wine. Pasta with Chanterelles, Arugula and calf's liver with getrüffelten gnocchi came to the table. Clooney guest had been less than two hours. How has the choice to his restaurant, do not know till Schicker. "I have no idea." After lunch, there was still a common photo and an entry in the guestbook.

And then, so reported Reinhard Kunze, George Clooney is gone also. "Somehow completely inconspicuous, with a backpack like a normal tourist."

From Wickie....

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

"From 1933 to 1945, around 1,000 feature films were made in the studios and on the studio lot.
Under the direction of Hitler's propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels, the studio churned out hundreds of films including Leni Riefenstahl's openly propagandistic Triumph of the Will.
The virulently anti-Semitic propaganda film Jud Süss (The Jew Süss), shot in 1940, was also made at Babelsberg.[1]

On May 17, 1946, the DEFA - Deutsche Film AG - was established. It produced over 800 feature films, including 150 children's films.
In addition, over 600 films were made for television from 1959 to 1990. The DEFA period was honored by a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York in 2005.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Treuhand took over the responsibility for the privatisation of the former DEFA.
In August 1992, the Treuhandanstalt sold the former DEFA film studios in Babelsberg to the French group Compagnie Générale des Eaux (later absorbed into Vivendi Universal).
Over the following 12 years the company invested around €500 million updating the studio's infrastructure.

In July 2004, Vivendi sold Studio Babelsberg to the investment company FBB (Filmbetriebe Berlin Brandenburg GmbH), which has Carl Woebcken and Christoph Fisser as shareholders.
In Spring of 2005, the restructured studio presented an initial public offering and began trading on the free market.

2007 was the most profitable year since the Studio's privatization in 1992 - 12 feature films were shot at Studio Babelsberg, among them Valkyrie with Tom Cruise, The International with Clive Owen, and The Reader with Kate Winslet.

In 2008 Studio Babelsberg and Hollywood producer Joel Silver formed a strategic alliance to produce feature films from the Dark Castle production slate at the world’s oldest film studio.

Recent co-productions of Studio Babelsberg include Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (released 2009), Roman Polanski's The Ghost Writer (2010) and Brian De Palma's "Passion" (2012)"

So back in 2009 he executive produces "Playground", a doco about child sex trade in the US. And now he is gearing up to work with a production company that has supported Polanski through employment - a paedophile who fled criminal sentencing after pleading guilty to child rape?? George is choosing to work with these people??

For a man who presents himself with principles and ethics, they sure do go out the window when there is a paycheck in it for him. First Nestle and their dubious humanitarian "efforts”. Now working with a company that appears to condone and support a paedophile.

I won't be seeing whatever film this relates to. Even if it is MM.

Some may see it as a long bow to draw against George but not for me. Just my opinion but I find him working with these people appalling.

Also, did you know that Polanski filmed a short film for Prada that was shown at the Cannes Film Festival this year? WTF? Why are people working with him? I don’t give a shit how talented or gifted he might be as a film maker, he raped a 13 year old girl when he was 43 years old and in a position of authority and then refused to be held accountable for the act even after pleading guilty. I refuse to see or support any project that he is involved in or any project of those who choose to work with him as if he has done nothing wrong and has nothing to be held accountable for.

It's me: I thanked for the info & pic. Said “our favourite, most liked actor” which he is. Don’t you agree? For me he is in a league of his own.

Watching: About Polanski: The man is genius. It is a disgrace how he has been treated in US. Unbelievable. And it was in Hollywood. Just how many men have slept with underage there? Even old grandmas are trying to look like 13 year olds in California! To get some man to look at them… what a hypocrisy!

I wasn’t there (neither were any of you) so we don’t know what happened. To me it seems like a set up. Her mother (yes, not all mothers love their children) took her there and left her with him. Two complete miss no ones and him, with a name. 13 or 14 years old is a child. But there are many who don’t act that way and it can lead to troubles. Now she is famous for being the over weight woman who once was a young girl Polanski “raped”. And therefore he has never returned to US.

Polanski is good, I liked the “Bitter moon” despite of Hugh Grant…

It isn't how she acted that is the problem none of us know how she acted the fact that she was a child is the problem. I don't care if she stripped naked he was a grown man she was a child and he should not have touched her.

BIC I think you clearly don't know the facts of the case or you're misunderstanding what you've read about Hollywood.

It's NEVER okay to rape anyone much less an underaged girl in ANY UNIVERSE. And I totally understand watchings concerns about dealing with any production company that would work with this cretan. But if they're the only game in town I don't know what choice there is and not doing the film isn't an option at this stage.

She was 13 years old! No other facts are even needed. There is NO defense for what he did. Perhaps she is in your words "an over weight woman" because she spent her life trying to deal with the trauma inflicted on her as a child.
Not backing down on this one. It hits a little to close to home for me.

Ok, you don’t like Polanski.

I have respect for him, he actually went to prison for this for some time (stupid lawyer talked him into it), but took the flight out (to Europe) after he realized he is going to spend there little eternity. Wise move.

Rape, rapist what is a definitions of rape? I know. Different to child molester. He is neither. What a shame...

But everyone is screaming she was a child, she was a child. Maybe she said she is 18-20? She looked old to be just 13 or 14 she actually was.

AMEN! It would also seem to me to be a very "male" attitude towards women and sex in general from the sounds of these posts above...making the victim responsible for the crime! And then making fun of her appearance; it comes across as if she had it coming and she should be thrilled that anyone payed any attention to her at all, since she's overweight now. I think everyone needs to take a breath...yes Polanski was scum but he did pay for his crime (sort of)....albeit it took a long time and he was able to have a life which isn't fair. I am sure this woman had issues but I saw an interview with her and she has come to be at peace with what happened. We should respect her feelings too.

I also think that while it is a shame that people work with disreputable people we should not condemn a whole industry. GC might not have any choice but to work with this film company. We don't know the inner workings of such relationships...I know someone who won't buy a German car because of the Holocaust....yet I know we can't blame the whole of Germany for their past. The sins of the father should not be placed on their children.....

Everyone should try to respect each other's beliefs---which are all valid feelings....

Getting off my soapbox...GC does look nice in the photo.....

Hold your horses…

Phys Major: No I do not know anyone who’s been raped. I learned martial arts as a child and was told by parents what is appropriate and what’s not. So I wouldn’t have been at the age of 13 with a man not knowing what is suppose to happen and what is not. Same thing with everyone I know.

I have never ever been harassed by a man. Anywhere. I think if you do not give a signal they let you in peace.

@ BIC...Good for you but have some compassion since not everyone is as lucky as you are and that's something you should consider before you blame the victim. Sometimes breathing is the only signal they need...don't pretend to know what's in every mans heart or mind. That's just patently impossible.

Thumbs up! silly girl I think this conversation is getting out of hand and I agree that we should stop.

I also agree that not making the film is not an option I would want to see happen. As I said above, this production company may be the only one in the area, so perhaps there really isn't a choice to work with them or not, so therefore he may have no other options; other than to rewrite the script regarding whatever was required to be shot there and that could be detremental to the flow of the film.

It's impossible to comment on any of that without knowing what importance that area has to the film.

I'm sure I'm probably going to be sadly wrong here, but for some reason I feel like this might really be the end of things. I suspect he is still scouting locations, and she might be heading back to do that food show thing soon. I'm not saying there will be an announcement or anything really final like that, but I dunno it just feels like it's winding down.

[quote="silly girl"]I think everyone needs to take a breath...yes Polanski was scum but he did pay for his crime (sort of)....albeit it took a long time and he was able to have a life which isn't fair. I am sure this woman had issues but I saw an interview with her and she has come to be at peace with what happened. We should respect her feelings too.

(No one ever comes to peace with a rape as a child they just want people to stop talking about it..)

(Sometimes we need to throw a stone into the lake to start a ripple......)

Woman in Sudan and in Hollywood are kind of different. You are assuming a lot of things based on a reply. Thanks for the hint " I can broaden my reality of this world... " If you knew me you probably would't say that...by the way I just sold my horses.... good ones. How do you make a small fortune with horses, you start with a big one! Very Happy

Well just wondering based on the heated conversation - will this topic get any updates should he be filming? Or are we going to back away from this?

I personally won't see anything that Polanski makes (exception was that one film about the writer who got involved with some British government official - only because I was at a friends house for dinner and they put the movie on - didn't realize it was his film till the end cause I missed the opening credits) but I think he's is not the only celebrity to have sex with underage children. He's just the one that got caught.

His raping her and then fleeing tells you a lot about him. He's not only a pedophile he's also a coward. But I'll bet there are a hell of a lot of sick people working in Hollywood that have never been caught at what they've been doing.

That being said, I don't think you can fault George for working with the studio if they are the only game in town. And I think the story is important to tell so what should he do? Not tell the story just because he would have to work with a studio that has also produced Polanski's work? If he did that he wouldn't be able to work with any studio cause they've ALL produced films with members of their community that I'm sure have as bad or worse members working in the business.

So back to the filming - personally, I'd like to see any photos if they can be found, of the filming. And if they're photos without Stacy all the better!

Interesting, George doesn't usually sign his name that way - at least not when he's at events. Guess he had more time to sign his full name.

Even I've never been molested but if I thought anyone could harass my children in an age which is permitted to fall in love but without experience and that person could use them and remove all the poetry to the feeling, I could kill him! My children, do not let anyone take poetry to 'love ................. word of mom! Polansky and if he really did what he is accused I will cut off his balls!

BIC, are you really Congressman Todd "Legitimate Rape" Akin? I knew he looked like a Clooney fan to me! Smile

Here's a tidbit from the wikipedia page dealing with Polanski's arrest:

Polanski had asked Geimer's mother (a television actress and model) if he could photograph the girl as part of his work for the French edition of Vogue,[11] which Polanski had been invited to guest-edit. Her mother allowed a private photo shoot. Geimer testified that she felt uncomfortable during the first session, in which she posed topless at Polanski's request...[at a second photo shoot she reluctantly agreed to] "We did photos with me drinking champagne," Geimer says. "Toward the end it got a little scary, and I realized he had other intentions and I knew I was not where I should be. I just didn't quite know how to get myself out of there."[13] In a 2003 interview, she recalled that she began to feel uncomfortable after he asked her to lie down on a bed, and described how she attempted to resist. "I said, 'No, no. I don't want to go in there. No, I don't want to do this. No!', and then I didn't know what else to do," she stated, adding: "We were alone and I didn’t know what else would happen if I made a scene. So I was just scared, and after giving some resistance, I figured well, I guess I’ll get to come home after this".

From a website describing a sex offender's strategy:

Step 1:
Identify the potential victim. Assess vulnerability and opportunity.
Vulnerability and opportunity to offend are the main reasons for selecting a victim. (He asks her mother for her to do the photo shoot - clearly he knew she was underage, or he would have asked the girl herself.)

Step 2:
Establish positive rapport with the potential victim. (Provided her with alcohol)

Step 3:
Test the victim. (At first photo shoot, requested she take her top off)

Step 4:
Isolate the victim. (Moved the "shoot" to a private bedroom with doors that locked)

Step 5:
Victimize.

For those who think the victim is "over it", she in fact sued him in civil court for emotional distress. Most recently "Samantha Geimer filed to have the charges against Polanski dismissed from court, saying that decades of publicity as well as the prosecutor's focus on lurid details continues to traumatize her and her family.". And that's why so many of these creeps get away with it. Having to relive the trauma over and over again is too much to bear.

As for George working with this studio, it makes me a little uncomfortable, but I don't see how never working with anyone who's associated with Polanski is possible. If you look at Polanski's IMDB page, his films all have several distributors, including Sony and Summit, which are big names George has almost certainly done business with as well. I can see not working with him directly, and I don't think George ever would, if only to avoid the press that would ensue.
