Weather
I thought I'd start this thread because a lot of people in my country are suffering right now. We have tropical storm Debby over Florida : Fox News Link
AND
We have fires in Colorado: Reuters Article Link AND elsewhere.
My prayers for those in need and in harms way!

I'm with ya Cinderella.....here the gates of hell have been opened and it's going to be 100+ with a heat index of 108. Sucks but it is summer in the south.

110 in the shade here yesterday. Better than Colorado though. Praying that those fires are put under control soon.

Re: Weather
I agree 100% EEOSandy. I lived in Oregon for most of my life and remember forest fires well and I always knew it was summer when you heard the borade planes flying over head. Sad.

Maybe it will take something like this to bring more people to prayer. I will also pray for the world, that we will be able to survive these inflictions in weather and come out unscathed

Re: Weather
I won't complain as it's about 105 in Vegas, dry heat, and no real danger from Nature's elements. I would like to add my prayers and concern for everyone in harm's way, and especially for those brave souls who risk their lives helping others in difficult times and situations.

Re: Weather
We had an amazing thunder storm this morning.
The thunder travelling over our house sounded just like
Mother Ship in Close Encounters, then sheet lightening every
4 seconds and horrendous heavy hail stones, then horizontal wind and rain. Lasted about an hour and I'd never seen anything like it before. Later Mother Ship thunder travelled around for a while,
then we had a very hot sunny afternoon ! Wow, Weird weather
indeed.
Did you get all that too Merlin, I believe it travelled north of here ?

Re: Weather
Unseasonably sunny and dry here! It should be the monsoon season now, but nothing doing. Not that I'm complaining. I plan to spend the weekend on the beach while I can.

Re: Weather
We had great clumps of ice landing on the conservatory roof during
a mini whirlwind, before it rained hail stones.
It seemed like a prelude to the end of the world

Re: Weather
Whirlwinds and hail? Sounds like a typical British summer to me!
It's times like these when I remember why I left. I had a brief hankering to move back to London recently, even going so far as to look up a few old contacts to ask about job opps, but I think I'm staying put.

We had a massive hailstorm this past spring, and now, we have dry heat with a heat index of 106 degrees Fahrenheit, It will be like this all weekend long. I will go to the mall to shop, since it will be too hot to do anything outdoors. Cincinnati can have extremes when it comesx to weather.

So Jojo, are you a northern lass then? The bridge took quite a thunderbolt! I do feel very sorry for all the people being flooded in areas not normally at risk. Which is worst fire or flood?

Re: Weather
No fluffy, I'm middle England, where there has been
some flooding but not directly in my area.
It's a shame we have no technology to send our rain over to Colorado where those terrible fires are raging. I heard it's going to take weeks to get them under control, is that right ?
I think fire is the worst every time.

Re: Weather
If you have a power outage, in the extreme heat:
wrap anything that you want to stay cold (refridgerator and/or freezer) in newspaper and it retains the cold temp a bit longer.
basements are always cooler, go there
cold showers arent just for horny men
any other suggestions or ideas?

Re: Weather
I live in earthquake country so I always keep an emergency backpack kit stocked in my car with food AND water and another one in the house. Lots of slow burning candles and extra bottles water.
All this stormy weather is a reminder to keep extra food and water around just in case. Worse thing would be to run out of food. water, batteries, etc. and then find that the stores are closed due to a power outage.
As to the actual temperature here - wow best not say I'm lucky to live in a more temperate climate area and we are having an absolutely lovely day.
Also send out my prayers to those dealing with the fires, storms and extreme heat.
BTW thanks for the tip about wrapping stuff in newspaper in the fridge. I didn't know that one!
