Seems like this has alot to do with IMbd board...as i got scolded by the Rev. Mother Katie for going off topic on cabo sighting or was it the george sightings that others are allowed to do but the "new weirdos" don't belong to the social girl's club here!

In 1950's America, the equality of man envisioned by the Declaration of Independence was far from a reality. People of color — blacks, Hispanics, Asians — were discriminated against in many ways, both overt and covert. The 1950's were a turbulent time in America, when racial barriers began to come down due to Supreme Court decisions, like Brown v. Board of Education; and due to an increase in the activism of blacks, fighting for equal rights.

Martin Luther King, Jr., a Baptist minister, was a driving force in the push for racial equality in the 1950's and the 1960's. In 1963, King and his staff focused on Birmingham, Alabama. They marched and protested non-violently, raising the ire of local officials who sicced water cannon and police dogs on the marchers, whose ranks included teenagers and children. The bad publicity and break-down of business forced the white leaders of Birmingham to concede to some anti-segregation demands.

Thrust into the national spotlight in Birmingham, where he was arrested and jailed, King helped organize a massive march on Washington, DC, on August 28, 1963. His partners in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom included other religious leaders, labor leaders, and black organizers. The assembled masses marched down the Washington Mall from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial, heard songs from Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, and heard speeches by actor Charlton Heston, NAACP president Roy Wilkins, and future U.S. Representative from Georgia John Lewis.

King's appearance was the last of the event; the closing speech was carried live on major television networks. On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, King evoked the name of Lincoln in his "I Have a Dream" speech, which is credited with mobilizing supporters of desegregation and prompted the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The next year, King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

The following is the exact text of the spoken speech, transcribed from recordings.

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check — a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. Those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. They have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.

As we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied, as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating "For Whites Only". We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.

Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!

Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California!

But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

Yes, I do.

It's the same obsession over and over and over again. She still goes on about Warner Bros even though George hasn't been with them for a few years now (he's with Sony) but her issue is with Warners and Stan Rosenfield and you can see that in every post she makes.

She also throws in a lot of religious stuff, claiming George is surrounded by satanists and that his girlfriend has a 'dark spirit' that's absorbing him. She first started this with Sarah Larson and just hasn't stopped.

Then she also has her fixation with numbers, symbols and the like.

I think you're on to something there.

Despite the fact that it must be blindingly obvious that I'm not George, I get emails from women declaring their love for me. Part of me is awed by the power and passion behind the words, part of me (the awkward british part) wants to giggle in embarrassment at the flow of emotions but most of me just feels utterly taken aback by it all. I don't know what to make of it.

I am thinking she is also on twitter ----under the name "petia" or something like that. Very weird. I am hoping SK's people would spam her as she is really disturbing.


I wonder why he hasn't put a stop to that Facebook page. On the surface it could be legitimate but when you delve into the pages and "Likes" I could see how it couldn't be him.


Oh and I would so feel embarrassed to read letters like that. I give you so much credit Katie for what you go through for this forum.

When I first joined COH, I remember being shocked by her comments on the various gossip sites I discovered thanks to all of you. At first, when you read her ramblings you think WTF. And, if you're a babe in the woods like I was as far as George and celeb following in general, on the web, you do start to realize that it's one person with lots of different names. I remember thinking that there were a lot of people who despised George and hated Eli. After a bit, you begin to recognize the phrasing and word usage. I sadly think it's one very sick person as well.

Think it would be pretty funny to watch Katie read all those love letters! I have to admit that when I first came here I didn't realize that photo you use Katie was George! Thought it was you in costume!

I still don't know what to make of the crazy comments. I think at first I just thought you seem to get more attention the crazier you on boards, not so much this one, and she just wanted attention. Then the continuation of the comments just seems too much. I guess I was hoping it wasn't the same person -seems more scary as one.

I guess this is kind of sad that someone is that sick and no one in her circle is able to do something for her. I don't know about the rest of you I could not write to George where ever, how ever and profess itimate feelings. That would be so embarrassing.

Some people forget that there are real people reading their posts. I think if it wasn't so anonymous if people would act in the same way. Oh well off for some test. Have a good one.

I too think she is one person. She can sound almost ok when she first comes on with a new name. Then as soon as she feels comfortable that she's fooling everyone, or she gets angry, all the old phrases we've heard too many times start to come out. Some think she is mentally ill, others here think she just gets a kick out of causing trouble. Either way, she is a troubled person who lives in a sad, miserable world in her mind.
I don't go to SK's fb page. Did the comments start after her posts were deleted here yesterday?. Maybe an angry at us so take it out on SK thing? That would be a pretty out of control anger problem.

OMG, Katiedot! I wouldn't even think people would believe that you were George let alone send you love letters! I had thought about doing a fan site as well for him but, with all the crap you have had to endure with this one, I don't think I will. I couldn't handle the sick people that flood his sites, with all of the drivel that they do, with the grace that you have shown them. I would want to hunt them down and throw them in jail.

lol Katie. I'd much rather see your pic in your place but understand why you might never want to. Some women have sent me messages to my FB cussing me out, calling me names and accusing me of lying. When I asked them what they thought I was lying about(cause all I ever do is post articles about George on my FB wall and post on some of the sites of his pics a little, like anyone else), they seemed to think I was associated with him in some way. One even accused me of being his secret girlfriend. And wouldn't take no for an answer. She really blasted me bad.

I can understand how you might feel about that, as another one kept talking to me as if I was George too, altho my FB clearly says my name. The stuff she would say to me... I kept telling her I was a much older lady and not even George's speed prolly. Had to block her. But I think she just resorted to another tactic, signing up as a guy and pretending to be interested in me. Have had to delete at least between a hundred to 200 messages from young men and older ones like that. I hadn't even known they were there, as I usually just look in my Inbox for messages. And a few women too.

I was just totally amazed at what ppl will get in their heads about others. And none of this would even touch George himself, just ppl's stuff they have in their heads about him.

I'm not particularly interested in Stacey but when I read this yesterday I did go and look at her FB page and I reported some of the posts there because in a way it reflects on us 'normal' people as fans of George (or Katie as I like to call him LOL).

Away from IMDb topic but I have a FB "friend" who keeps wanting to send me flowers. Being new to Facebook (and I think a little naive and dim-witted sometimes) I replied and thanked him for the flowers. At that point he wanted to know everything about me. It was at that point I ran away like a chicken in a fox den.

To continue my naivety, does anyone know what someone means by "sending flowers"?

On Facebook there are cyber "gifts" you can send to "friends.". I started on it 7 years ago to keep up with a God daughter but never did anything with it. I just think it's an identity thief's dream come true, especially since so many use their real names. I got pushed into starting back up a few months ago by some friends and I'm shocked at how so many people make their pages open to the public and then post about every little detail of their lives! "I'm heading for a 2 week vacay in the Bahamas" reads for me..."I'll be gone for 2 weeks, perfect time to rob me!".

Anyway, there are all sorts of cyber gifts you can give and, soon, Facebook will be selling real items which means not only will they have access to our photos but they'll now have our addresses and credit card info and their security track record is horrible so it will be a mess!

Sorry for the rant! Sounding like our "friend!"

I don't do any sending of anything on Facebook. The only things I make public are about my blog or some articles. Most of everything else is private or as private as I can make it. The only game I play is Words for Friends. It is a great way to keep connected with people. I have a twitter account that is tied to my Facebook account but again it is used to keep connected. Most people I know have slowed down their use of Facebook, it gets time consuming.

Wow does it get time consuming! I swear some of my friends are on it all day long. When I first re-opened my page, it defaulted to everyone being my "close friend" so I was getting hundreds of email alerts every time someone posted! It was horrible! Finally reset my alerts so I'm now blissfully unaware.

I post images from photoshoots on mine as a way of advertising, and/or sharing images with the subject I shot onto their FB page so they have copies. That's it.
