Celebs were the first to taste Rande Gerber‘s premium Caliche Rum at the launch event in Beverly Hills Thursday night.

Stars like Leonardo DiCaprio with girlfriend Erin Heatherton, Laura Prepon, David Spade and Gerber’s wife Cindy Crawford were all in attendance for the exclusive rum-tasting preview. They were able to grab a few drinks, enjoy the music, and catch up with friends.

Irish actor Gerard Butler joined the festivities around midnight. When asked if he would be trying the exciting, new drink Butler said:

“No no, I’m not drinking, I’m just here to support my friend Rande.”

We’re sure the upcoming vanilla and citrus drink will be a celeb fave!

Review of the rum

Introducing Caliche Rum by Kevin Gray | Mar 02, 2012 | 2 comments | News, Rum

Puerto Rico’s Distileria Serralles just announced the launch of Caliche Rum. The new white rum is a collaborative product from sixth-generation rum maker Roberto Serrallés and hospitality/nightlife impresario, Rande Gerber. Caliche is billed as a “super premium” rum, a designation more often associated with vodkas and tequilas. The name “Caliche” comes from a type of limestone that’s present around the distillery in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

In creating Caliche Rum, the distillery uses a multiple-distillation system and carbon-active filtration to produce a clean, pure rum. Next up, aging in American white oak casks and blending. Caliche Rum contains a portion of Solera rum (Solera is a process of aging by fractional blending, in which the finished product is a mixture of ages, with the average age gradually increasing as the process continues over many years). This gives more depth and nuanced flavors to rum. Speaking of flavor, take a sip to taste caramel and vanilla with light tannins and oak accents. It’s smooth and velvety and has more body than Don Q white rum, also produced by Distileria Serralles.

About the launch of Caliche, Rande Gerber said he “saw an untapped market in the super-premium white rum space due to limited options for rum drinkers. After meeting Roberto and learning more about his family rum-making tradition, we knew we could make the highest quality rum at an accessible price point.” For now, Caliche Rum is available in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago and Dallas

I wonder if he was probably in NYC picking up John getting ready for the Sudan trip. I can't see him attending a booze party, even if it's for RandE, when he has more pressing and important work to do.

So she's a name dropper too....

Why doesn't she have that "lump" removed from her face ?
It's quite unsightly IMO

Joanna, I think that mole on her face is a trademark for her. IMO she must think it looks attractive because if she's had the pain of Botox she would have gone through getting it removed.
