If you were in your 30s, would you date George?

Post by Katiedot on Sun Jan 15 2012, 11:24

lolo wrote:ok u dated older guys and didn't like that so G is exception for u if u met him and u are younger u would date him or not ?
This was a response to a couple of posters who said they'd have the chance to date millionaires older than themselves when they were younger but didn't.

So imagine you're 32, would you make an exception for George Clooney?

If it was just a fling it would be ok. Not for anything serious I don't think George does serious anyway. It would be interesting just to see how he lives and I would get to see Lake Como. I have been asked out by much older wealthy men in my early twenties and always said no but a couple of them were also married and I don't do married men ever.

32?

too abstract

anyway
you have to tink about what you want in your life

do you want to become a mother
sooner or later?

seems he wont
and that can become a big issue in your relationship

then, more or less,
in your 40
he will be
60

and 70 in your 50

you want to run
he maybe need to slow a little

bodies had aged at different ways...

20 years difference is really too much
IMO

then, at the romantic side, you can see it possible
this is only a chemistry fact
mysterious, as we know

Nope, not a chance. I wouldn't date a plumber who has the same emotional issues and limitations as G so no chance. The idea that I could date G in the same scenario just because he is rich and famous would make me a hypocrite and exactly the same type of woman as the famewhores in his life and quite frankly, I am better than that. If I did, I would hate myself after for lowering my standards so much so why even bother?

At 32 you are suppose to have some amount of life experience and smarts to make decisions that are not detrimental to your self-worth or greatly lacking in judgement. At 22 though, that could have been a different story as you are still on that learning curve.

If you want to see Lake Como and you come in Italy I can accomodate you in my house. I do not live on the lake but at 40 minutes by road and is easily accessible.

Instinctively I would answer: of course! George is the man for me the most beautiful and fascinating in the world.
Thinking of you would answer very well but I know that I would try to change his attitude about children (for me very important) and then if I would do all the holidays between Cabo and Laglio every year and always in the same way I know that I break the balls and we quarrel and then I would do to pack!

Maybe if I was in his world (LA) their frame of mind, what our priorities in daily life are so different. The way I live my life even if I was 30 wouldn't want to become what all his GF's end up being in the eyes of the web etc. just another Clooney girl. Lately I've wondered if my impressions and judgments of his GF's are fair, since I'm not from that lifestyle and haven't walked in their shoes, hell I couldn't afford a pair of their shoes!

Hey, girls. The operative word is DATE. You date someone to get to know him. You date him to have fun. You don't date someone just to try to change attitudes. You date someone to enjoy his company, have a great time and then go home feeling good about your time together.
I'd love the opportunity to date George, to get to know him better than we think we do now. I'd love to feel his charm, charisma, consideration and laughter. I'd also like to believe that I could then walk away from it all, because I know it can't go anywhere. But I would always have those memories for a lifetime. cheers

Post by melbert on Sun Jan 15 2012, 16:44

Sad and pityful side story. Two of my co-workers wanted me to "hook up" with their dads who were widowers. Both of these men were at least 20 years my senior. One had an arm amputated and one had throat cancer and only spoke in a whisper. Now, I am NOT a vain person nor a superficial person. However, I did NOT want to be a nurse maid and did NOT want to financially support these two men. I respectfully declined their offers.

Now, would I date George? As PattyGirl so eloquently wrote: "I'd love the opportunity to date George, to get to know him better than we think we do now. I'd love to feel his charm, charisma, consideration and laughter. I'd also like to believe that I could then walk away from it all, because I know it can't go anywhere. But I would always have those memories for a lifetime." I really do love George for who he is, not WHAT he is, i.e. Brand George.

Nicely put Pattygirl.

I also suspect a lot of that reasoning is why his girlfriends date him. He's fun and as long as they don't get serious about him, why not?

Re: If you were in your 30s, would you date George?

Post by davidarochelle on Sun Jan 15 2012, 17:01

Having gone on countless blind dates for very expensive dinners in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, I have learned that the more successful the man and the better looking, the more likely he is to feel comfortable with me, and to ask me out again. I have always attracted more than my share of attention; I really don't understand why that is. Less accomplished men claim that I intimidate them, and they dislike the "limelight" that is a part of my life. Better to date a man that won't pick on me for naturally standing out.

Having never been married nor had kids, the one deal breaker with an older man is usually too much baggage. Child free men have other priorities and view themselves far differently, like I do.

I have dated extremely successful self-made young, handsome, and charismatic billionaires. We were close in age, and I learned a tremendous amount from them. Far, far better than reading a book on how to achieve your goals. They really had a completely different mind set, in how they viewed themselves and the world. Of course I always chose very sensitive men who also had shared values and morals. I think that they always recognized the fact that I was very appreciative and affectionate. Also that I did not place demands on their time, as I sometimes like to be alone, and don't have family requirements. Perhaps the greatest connector is that we both saw each other as a very, very hot and intense way to relieve stress as well as to connect on all levels.

it's me,
Not right in terms of marriage, but then my goals have changed and I am not sure that I ever want to get married. The ideal "concept of marriage" is so different than the realities of struggling to make it work. It would literally kill me to be stuck in an unhappy relationship.

I did go out with many of the men more than once. Successful men place a much higher value on their time, so relationships quickly become more intense. Separations due to work obligations mean that sometimes you do not date exclusively. It makes perfect sense for these men to discuss expectations before the end of the first date, to avoid emotional conflict.

That's exactly my point. Everyone who knows me says that whether I am in a traditional office setting or on a movie set, like yesterday, I am known as an entertainer. And it takes a certain kind of man to feel comfortable with that fact.

If I was in my thirties now, I still dont think I would date George. Back then I liked older men, but not old enuff to be my dad. But I would want to be his friend (if I was in my 30s). Im not the kind of person that would use anyone for my own advantage. But Im not in my 30s, and yes, now I would date him. Especially with his track record, I would have been more crushed at the time of the dump if I was 30.

Look what happens when he dates someone, just dinner! Does anyone remember after SL before EC he met some girl while on vacation with Cindy, and the boys in Cabo. They went out for sushi and got papped leaving the restaurant. That fun date got the woman torn apart on the blogs for at least a month, her entire life was dissected on TV and tabloids, the web, wonder if her memories of dating George was worth all the embarrassing, incorrect, and private information spread all over about her past and present life. Still say not worth it.

I think Lucy is referring to the dinner date in LA with the girl who it turned out had been on a number of game shows under different names. But I don;t know about the Mexico connection so maybe this one is a different one to what I have posted below.

From TMZ - Clooney's Chick -- Game Shows Paid the Bills

George Clooney may have finally met a bigger player than himself -- 'cause it seems his new lady friend is a semi-professional game show contestant.

We figured out Clooney's sushi date from last weekend is either named Katie, Kate or Stephanie Moeser -- depending on which of the four different game shows she's been on.

Whats-her-name was on "Hollywood Squares" in late '03/early '04, "The Price is Right" in '06, "Trivial Pursuit" in '08 and "Don't Forget the Lyrics" in '07 -- where she won $350,000, despite having an ear-shattering singing voice.

George Clooney paid a visit to his local sushi bar with a mystery brunette this past weekend. Does anyone know who this lucky lady is? The paps say the duo headed back to George's place after dinner. Wonder what they did there! Doesn't she kind of look like Elliot Spitzer's ho, Ashley Dupree?

You know, if he'd have me, I would date him if I were in my 20s, 30s, or whatever. Especially after watching 2 hrs. of him Inside the Actors Studio. His wit, intelligence and honesty really are, to me, a real turn on. He is also, to me, ageless. To sit across a table from him and have a meaningful conversation, listen to his stories, his jokes and see his smile, would be simply marvelous. I'd even consider a one-on-one basketball game, would be fun! Basketball cheers

He'd be a fool to not want you PattyGirl!!!! I get annoyed at the Red Carpet interviewers asking the same petty-ass questions, but I love Mr. Lipton's way of interviewing. I've watched many of these programs, and I love his method. I could tell from George's appearance, they did some editing. I know they have to for time contraints. But, I love George in this setting, almost a raw appeal! If only he'd have me...

I'm in my 30s (for one more week!) and for sure I'd date him if he asked. Not sure that we have a whole lot in common but a one-off date would be fun!
