Rupert Everett slams stars (agan) Empty Rupert Everett slams stars (agan)

Looks like Rupert Everett finally found a way to get back into the tabloids; by dissing other actors. Here he goes for Jennifer Aniston (can't say I disagree with him, really) and the magazine reprises his old quotes about George:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

by Cary Fagan on December 30, 2010

Rupert Everett has a bone to pick with Jennifer Aniston. The British actor told the BBC that no matter how badly their films tank, certain actors are pretty much above the fray and thus consistently able to get work -- and remain on the A-list -- despite poor box office showings.

He singles out the rom-com actress by name:

OK, something will go wrong, like Jennifer Aniston will have one too many total flops, but she's still a member of that club, And she will still manage to…like a star forming in the universe, things will swirl around her and it will suddenly solidify into another vital tasteless rom-com, a little glitter next to the Crab Nebula.

Hey -- I'm not exactly a Jennifer Aniston fan, but I'd rather sit through The Switch than listen to this load of sour grapes.

What gives, Rupert? Why the jealousy?

This isn't the first time this B-list actor has directed his wrath toward his fellow thespians.

Everett claimed that Michael Jackson was a freak and added: "I think it was fortuitous that he died."

On George Clooney the actor:

Clooney thinks that, provided he does films which are politically committed, he’s allowed to do Ocean’s 11, 12, and 13. But the Ocean’s movies are a cancer to world culture. They’re destroying us.

On Clooney the man:

He’s not the brightest spark on the boulevard. He’ll be president one day. Mark my words, if he’s straight, he’ll be president
.

On pretty much everyone else:De Niro, Redford, Keaton, Allen, Pacino … They’re all just tragic parodies of themselves. Al Pacino looks like a mad old freak now. I say give it a rest, or go and do some serious stuff…

The other day I saw a film called Because I Said So with Diane Keaton and I thought, ‘here’s one of the women we loved most in 1970s cinema, debasing and humiliating herself in this load of trash.

Even William Shakespeare is not spared. Everett labeled the bard as an overrated writer who should be banned for the next 100 years.

Really?

It's no secret that the actor feels that his coming out as a gay man stalled his Hollywood career.

You know what? It probably did -- and that offends me. But so does Rupert Everett. The former co-star of that film classic, My Best Friend's Wedding, is in no position to judge. At all.

When I read this on Huffpo last week, my first thought was "is this the ONLY way this guy can get any attention?"

The star system in H/Wood is ridiculous, on that Rupert is right. But he does need to stop the bilious ranting. Apart from anything else, it’s showing in his face and it’s so not a good look.

Although he has become a parody of himself, I still like him. He’s a good writer, Red Carpets and Other Banana Skins is a cracking read and a lot of what he says is just deliberately provocative and imo kind of refreshing alongside all the fawning sycophancy that goes on. It’s kind of a shame he’s so bent out of shape about his lost (in his own mind mainly) Hollywood career though because people will dismiss what he's saying instead of actually thinking about the points he's making, most of which I agree with. But his Aniston (much as I think she’s grossly overrated) example is incorrect: while quality-wise, her films are dire imo, they do on the whole make money. They are low-budget throwaway rom-coms which continue to have an audience and even when the box office is poor, the dvd sales and tv rights etc usually end up more than making a profit for the studios. And no studio will continue laying out salaries for people who don’t bring home the bacon.

He did make a very good point about the disparity between the way the system treats middle age men who go off the rails or through a bad patch in comparison to women. Charlie Sheen is a prime example of this: in any other industry/profession he would be poison, a sleazy nasty abusive waste of space, but Hollywood continues to give him the love. And he’s not even grateful, he’s carrying on exactly as he always has. How many women of his age have been/would be given the same ’2nd’ Rolling Eyes chance if they‘d behaved - and continued to behave - as he has? Can anyone name one?

re: Charlie Sheen, Hollywood will only still give him "the love" as long as his audience still continues to tune in and his advertisers continue to support his show. It's the forgiving audience that's at work here, not Hollywood.

They couldn't care less about Charlie and his personal demons. As long as his market share remains as high as it's been, the money and contracts will remain intact. It's that cut and dried; it's a business like any other business, it's all about the bottom line...morality be damned.

Truthfully, the only thing I know about this man Rupert is the number of times one of these daily rags has given him the stage to vent about his acrimonious Hollywood experience and how unfair the world has treated him. What I wonder is why can't he continue his career in England, like all his fellow British actors who seem to make a fairly good living without Hollywood at all.

Well, Lighter, he has continued with his career here and what it's shown more than anything else is that he is not a particularly good actor! His downfall came about because of his badmouthing other people, and had very little imo to do with his coming out as a gay man. That may have closed a few doors for him certainly, but in no way shape or form to the degree that Rupert bitterly suggests! He has always had a very exalted opinion of his own abilities. He just doesn't have the acting chops of a Firth or a Richard E Grant or any number of other British actors who've carved very successful careers for themselves, but in his blind and bitter way, it's easier for him to blame discrimination than take a hard look at the reality. Bottom line, Rupert's 'bitter' killed his Hollywood career.

Like I said, I actually find him and his delusions funny more than anything else. And when he's not mouthing off about someone or being all bitter and twisted, he can be extremely witty and self-deprecating. But I can completely understand why people find him so unpleasant.

I thought his book was a great read - maybe he should move into writing instead of acting? It seems that his talents lie there rather than on the screen.

Bitter much?

I cant imagine he can do much with his career if he keeps badmouthing people -

George had one of his great come backs for Rupert's hissy fit on the Ocean Movies

George said:
"Where did that come from? You kind of go, 'Dude, weren't you in Dunston Checks In'?
