I'm surprised Martha Stewart can get in. She has a conviction and went to prison. We have refused entry in the past for other celebs with records. It's not that hard to find a kangaroo so maybe a tasmanian tiger would be a better, I'll tell her she can't leave Australia till she finds one. Should keep her away for George for sometime being that they have been extinct for sometime now. LOL Sounds like a quick trip if George comes so I doubt Stacy will come too.

Can't picture her at such a "serious" event. As there won't be a red carpet, per se, how could she shine. Don't think she'd sit through what will be "boring" to her. Since it is a forum, I don't imagine George would just up and leave after his speech. It would be very counterproductive.

I do think he is coming to Oz in person as one of the woman's mags here has a competition of some sort where you can win lunch with George. I would assume that would be whilst he is here. Will have a look at the newsagent tomorrow and let you know.

Yep he is coming in person he talked about it in some interview. He went to the Hong Kong one and got over 500,000K and he donated to his charity he is doing the same with the Sydney event. Not sure he will around at the lunch he isn't going to the cocktail party. If he does what he did with HK he flew in did the talk then left! I expect he will do the same with Sydney. Don't think Stacy is going to come either.

Just found this:

From Street Corner

George Clooney Hollywood Star To Speak In Sydney Australia Next Week

by Eva Rinaldi

06/12/2011

He's one of the hottest actors in the world, right up there with Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Tom Cruise, Samuel L. Jackson and Australia's own Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman. Some will argue he is the hottest.

Whatever the case and how you rank Mr Clooney, he is very successful and we've also learned he's quite the humanitarian and astute businessman.

For his outstanding work as an actor, he has received two Golden Globe Awards and an Academy Award. Clooney is also noted for his social activism and has served as one of the United Nations Messengers of Peace since January 31, 2008.

Clooney, adding to his ultra impressive accolades, is tipped to win the Best Actor Oscar for his latest film, The Descendants.

The majority of media think 2001 was a stand out year for Clooney, at least for commercial success in film. His fame skyrocked that year with the release of his biggest commercial success, Ocean's Eleven, the first of a profitable film trilogy, a remake of the movie from 1960 with the members of The Rat Pack with Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean. Stealing from a casino is pretty cool, and Clooney pulls it off beautifully.

Down under (and most of the world) just loves George, so its little wonder there's a considerable ticket price attached to enjoying his 'An Exclusive Audience with George Clooney'. Some tickets are apparently selling for up to $1100 AUD (no misprint).

So, just how much moolah for tickets for the man who needs no introduction? That depends upon who you speak to - think $1000, at least at this stage of the game.

We've obtained some media blurb from International Events - a speakers event arm of Max Markson's Markson Sparks!, and it reads like this:

An Exclusive Audience with George Clooney

George Clooney is a two time Golden Globe Award and Academy Award winning actor, presenter, director, producer and screenwriter who‘s made over fortyt films. In 2007, George cofounded the Darfus aid organisation Not On Our Watch and began serving as a United Nations Messenger of Peace, receiving a UN Summit Peace Award with fellow actor Don Cheadle.

For the last five years, George Clooney has been focused on leveraging his celebrity to get people to care for something mor important that celebrity - in particular the issues of Southern Sudan. His last project is the Satellity Sentinel Project (SSP) which provides and early warning system to deter mass atrocities by focusing world attention and generation rapid responses on human rights and human security concerns.

In a rare public appearance, George will discuss how collaboration, negotiation and compromise have been critical to his success in business and his humanitarian work. Clooney will discuss how we all use our circle of influence and personal power to make a difference to the issues that matter in our professional and personal lives. This is not to be missed - a true bucket list opportunity!

The lunch time event will be held on December 12th 2011 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour.12 noon lunch will be followed by a photograph with Mr. Clooney and the event will culminate with a talk from 1.30pm - 2.30pm ‘The Power of Collaboration‘, including a question and answer session moderated by Ellen Fanning.

Ticket Information: Tickets are priced at $1100 in GST or $11,000 for a table of ten, including a two course lunch a photo with George Clooney.

Only 100 guests on 10 tables of 10 will be able to attend so book now to guarantee your seat!

Dates and Times: December 12th, 2011 Location: Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour
The Late News...

We understand that at this stage no media is invited to the event. Will Mr Markson and the powers that be change their mind in the coming days, should they see enough benefit in working with and / or collaborating with a range of Australian media companies (to raise awareness and to help sell more tickets?) Or, will Max and friends go it alone, believing that they will get the numbers they require make money on Clooney's exclusive speaking engagement in 'Sin City' Sydney? Time will no doubt tell. Yes, we're interested to attend of course, and talk about a positive news story.

Mr Clooney kindly shared some of his thoughts with news media recently regarding the working lives of his fellow actors, and this is gold...

"I cut tobacco for a living in Kentucky. That was hard work. I sold insurance door-to-door. That's hard work. Acting is not hard work.

"I've known a tremendous number of talented actors who didn't get opportunities. It's long hours, but nobody wants to hear you complain."

"I remember I was selling women's shoes at a department store, which is a lousy job."

In the interview with Hollywood Reporter magazine, he added: "I don't find (acting) difficult. I find it challenging, and sometimes I'm very bad at it, but I don't find it hard."

Will George's Main Squeeze Come Down Under Too?

That's the million dollar question. If you didn't already know, George has been hanging out with former WWE Diva Superstar Stacy Keibler (once known by such colourful names as "Miss Hancock" and "The Legs of the WWE" (because of her extremely long legs). Keibler was the only WWE Diva who ranked many times in the listed of Maxim's Hot 100. Either way, Ms Keibler nor Mr Clooney need not play second fiddle to anyone, so if they come to Australia together, it will of course be a huge bonus to media and fans.

Thanks to our friends at E! we learned the following. Ms K opened right up to the celebrity media heavyweight: "We're going to be having a lot of friends and family going together this year, so it will be fun" speaking about a Yuletide vacation with her parents—which, for the first time, will be feauturing a very special guest appearance by her Oscar-winning boyfriend. It's top secret if any of the family clan will be visiting Australia.

No word yet if Clooney will be making any public appearances, but you can bet he will be welcomed with open arms if he does.

George, thank you for visiting Sydney, Australia, and we hope to cross paths with you soon one way or another, and with the AussieWood - Hollywood connection, we think we've got a pretty good chance. You have to back yourself in life and business, and that's exactly what we're doing.

Quotes by George Clooney...

After doing One Fine Day and playing a pediatrician on ER, I'll never have kids. I'm going to have a vasectomy.

America can't beat anyone anymore.

As you get older and ease your way into being a character actor you have to be comfortable with where you are in life and career, and I'm very comfortable with what I'm doing - working on projects I'm proud of.

But I'm kind of comfortable with getting older because it's better than the other option, which is being dead. So I'll take getting older.

I bought a piano once because I had the dream of playing As Time Goes By as some girl's leaning on it drinking a martini. Great image. But none of it worked out. I can't even play Chopsticks. But I've got a nice piano at my house!

I don't believe in happy endings, but I do believe in happy travels, because ultimately, you die at a very young age, or you live long enough to watch your friends die. It's a mean thing, life.

Looks like he'll be there for three days. I'm assuming they mean arriving on Sunday, flying out on Tuesday.

Link from Henway:

News.com.au

George Clooney flies into Sydney on Sunday for The Power of Collaboration address at Darling Harbour on Monday

From: The Daily Telegraph

December 09, 2011

WOMEN of Sydney, brace yourselves. The world's sexiest man (give or take a few) arrives in just two sleeps.

Taller than Tom Cruise and sexier than syrup, George Clooney flies into Sydney for a brief stopover ahead of his The Power of Collaboration address at Darling Harbour on Monday.

It is Clooney's first major visit to Sydney and the women of the Harbour City are understandably excited at the prospect of seeing the world's most eligible bachelor up close and in person.

Organisers of the tour were either unwilling or unable to confirm whether his latest girlfriend, wrestler Stacey Kiebler, will join Clooney for his three-day visit to Sydney.

The actor-director-writer has said no to offers to visit other Australian capital cities after recognising, we imagine, that there is only one city in the country suitably cool enough to sustain his vast talent.

Clooney flies in on Sunday and will appear at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre at noon on Monday - the only surefire place his fans can hope to see him during his fleeting visit.

The two-time Golden Globe Award and Academy Award winner will speak at a lunch for which ticket holders are paying $1100 to hear Clooney discuss, in smoky tones, his humanitarian work and the way he has used collaboration, negotiation and compromise in his work.

The lucky Ellen Fanning will MC the event

He's getting HOW MUCH for this gig????!

From Brisbane Times

By George, look who's coming

December 9, 2011

FORGET about the quick brown fox, it's the lightning-speed silver fox George Clooney who will be cutting a swathe through Sydney when he jets into town on Sunday and collects his mouth-watering appearance fee. Clooney, who is joining a conga line of ''inspirational speakers,'' including America's cupcake queen and former jailbird Martha Stewart and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons as the star speakers at a business seminar, will be in town for just 24 hours.

For an actor who commands $15 million a movie that usually requires many months of involvement, his one day's work in Sydney is set to be particularly lucrative. Insiders inform PS he will pocket more than $600,000 from his Sydney hosts. His fee is said to be around six times what Stewart and Simmons are being paid. Clearly he is the star attraction.

He'll be addressing a business seminar at Darling Harbour (lunch alone is $1100 a plate) with those paying the top price getting a photo with the heart-throb, as well as attending a VIP cocktail party and then going onto a private dinner that night.

Providing Sydney's single ladies with a glimmer of hope, PS understands he will not be coming with his latest girlfriend, professional jelly wrestler Stacy Keibler, giving our gals a slim window of opportunity to dazzle the former ''sexiest man alive'' before he jets back into Keibler's slippery arms. The couple were spotted dining in West Hollywood on Wednesday night, no doubt saying their goodbyes before Clooney, 50, makes the long trek ''down under''.

Ladies, start your engines.

He is "on" from 12 midday to 2:30pm on Monday, so he may well leave on Monday evening. He IS NOT attending a dinner or a cocktail party - lunch is from 12:00 to 1:30pm and then he is speaking from 1:30 to 2:30pm. Lunch and his "turn on stage" is ALL he is doing - I've checked with the organisers.

And he does not pocket this money - the cheque for this appearance and the one in Hong Kong goes directly to (as in the cheque is made out to ) the Sentinel Satellite Project.

Charley - to be fair, he is getting the paid the appearance fee. He is just choosing to donate it instead of pocketing it. And making sure the world know he is donating the funds.

It's not like he is covering the cost of flying to Oz, his security, his hotel suites, his transportation to and from the event, his meals, etc. If he was covering that so every dime that the organisers paid for his attendance and involvement would ultimately go to charity then that would be different. I mean, the charity is still getting AUS $600000 which is great. But George isn't dipping into his own funds to make this trip happen because it is his passion.

I mean, the descesdants is out here in the second week of Jan. Ides is still in some cinemas - especially the art house ones. Bet there is an exclusive interview done at the same time to promote his film projects. He is here for three days and only a few hours have been accounted for for the event.

Considering how public he is making his donation, it makes a good case to believe that he has kept all the commercial, print ads and endorsement money. Leap - yes. But one I am comfortable making. Does he need to tell the world what he does with his money - no. But he has been very quick to tell everyone that the Hong Kong and Oz events are to fund charity.

It's my opinion - get over yourself for believeing that everyone must think the way you do.

And for future reference, if you want to disagree, no problem. But don't yell at me because I don't agree with you. It's rude - plain and simple. And if that is the only way you can make a point, then your point isn't built on much substance.

And Stacy clearly isn't joining him. From Eonline

We can exclusively reveal that Sheen and Keibler are two of the celeb presenters at Spike TV's Video Game Awards this Saturday at Sony Studios. The former Two and a Half Men star will be presenting the award for Best Shooter, while Keibler will be presenting the world premiere of a trailer for a big upcoming video game

Australia is 18 hours ahead so when she is doing the Spike event, he could be touching down in Oz.

He tends not to take his girlfriends anywhere except Europe. Mind you, I said that when he was dating Sarah Larson and she turned up in effing Dubai with him!

I think for such a short trip he wouldn't be taking her anyway even if she didn't already have a gig in the USA.

I think the same thing Katie. Actually watching he may not arrive here till Sunday then do his charity Monday then he could be off again. That is pretty much what he did with HK and he didn't do any other publicty there. I think we will see pap shots cause everyone knows he is coming but I doubt he will roam around. If the charity is paying I doubt George would use it to throw in a couple of press interviews unless it's about the event itself! I'm going by what he did in HK. He is donating his fee which is more then the others are doing and there are plenty of sponsors so they could be picking up airfares and hotels which they probably get a good deal on. He isn't asking for a private jet or anything so I don't think his costs are that bad when you think of all the money he is actually donating. I don't think Stacy was ever coming to this she didn't get to go to HK. This is strictly business for George and she would divert attention too much.

To be honest I'm not sure where you're going with this. I don't think it's been announced anywhere that he's giving the money to charity. The first I knew was when Charley mentioned it and she'd got it from the organisers. The Aussie newspapers seem to think he's getting to keep the cash.

I also don't see how he makes any money on commercials, print ads or endorsements. The first two are costs, not profits and I don't know what endorsements you mean. He's being paid an appearance fee but he's not endorsing anything.

The only thing I can think of that he could be getting from them is flights, hotels etc but that's not a cash gift, just something he uses. Not sure if those would be paid by the organisers or sponsored or what, but he's not taking money from any deserving causes that I can see.

Someone tweeted me that they have a meeting with him in Sydney on Monday so I guess he'll leave then.

George actually said in the recent interview that he was doing this for the appearance fee which he would donate to his charity. It is what he did with HK they paid him 500,000 thousand dollars and George thought it was a good way to raise money for the charity so he is doing it again in Sydney. That is why I don't think he will be promoting his movies it will be in, do his thing then leave! The interview is on here somewhere.....

Charley - I'm mean-spirited because I don't think the sun shines out a George's ass and that he is complete and utter perfection? Again, get over yourself. I disagreed with a viewpoint you made and you have gone and taken it personally and start making charatcer based accusations. You realise this in a forum, not SAT questions where there can be only one correct answer, right??

Now stop for a minute - think about the road you are starting down. It's a slippy slope. Because if you want to start and go toe to toe with me name calling and shouting at each other, I am more than willing to step up. Ball is in your court. Decide if this will be a pleasant board where people are treated with respect even if they disagree or if it going to be a knock down, dragged out fight because I am more than ready.

EVERY person who does these speaker type tours doesn't pay for their hotel, airfare, etc no matter how rich they are. They are all across America with VERY famous VERY rich people all the time. Why should George be the exception? They are using his name to make money.

Sis - just saying if someone wants to attack and start something, I am up for it. I wasn't the one who started the bashing on this thread. Am tired of taking the higher road of not engaging when my posts are belittled or for all intensive purposes, called stupid. Am tired of getting attacked on this site just because I have a different opinion.

I don’t go around insulting people to try and get them to not post. I don't caps lock sarcastic comments about other people's posts. I don't repeatedly disrespect people when they have a different viewpoint. I don’t push my agenda down everyone else’s throat. I’m not trying to beat into submission anyone who disagrees with my interpretation. Other posters here do that yet that never gets addressed or even raised as even possibly overstepping. But because I don't think Stacy is pure evil or that George is perfect (yet from the posters here I am suppose to believe that as a man of his age and experience is continuously lead astray by a revolving door of brilliant manipulative women who only want to exploit him and gosh darn it, he just can’t see the woods for the trees), I have to accept that I am going to be mocked and spoken down to?

If posters are allowed to attack those who may be in the minority who don’t agree with them without anyone batting an eyelid at it – fine, the rules here changed and no-one let me know. But if anyone thinks I am not going to give as good as I get - they are dead wrong. Threat, warning, statement of intent – take it whichever way you want. I play nice and I get stomped on. Well no more. My opinion has as much value as anyone else’s – but the behaviour that has been ongoing here for the last couple of months really doesn’t support that. So yeah, I am going to call them on it. And I am sure those pushing their agendas hardest will call me on it.

The Oz press is still talking about it. Slow news day here.

POCKETING BIG FOR A SMALL SHOW

SYDNEY continues to shine as a beacon for cash-hungry American celebrities, a long line of who have been beating a path to our fair city for what are among the largest appearance fees in this town.

On Monday Hollywood hunk George Clooney fronts up for a business seminar where he is delivering a speech, hosting a lunch and cocktail party and then collecting a fee of more than $600,000, before jumping on a jet out of here.

Small Manly conference company The Growth Faculty is the business shelling out the big bucks to bring Clooney to Sydney. The brainchild and director of the company, Karen Beattie, agreed there was always a risk in bringing out such big stars, but was confident her firm would not just break even, but make a profit from the seminar.

Joining Clooney is billionaire homemaker doyenne Martha Stewart, who is said to be taking a fee of around $200,000 to appear.

''In this business it is all about bringing out names the people want to see. I'm pretty confident we are going to do well out of this,'' Beattie told PS, though her publicist Max Markson was still busy spruiking the event, trying to generate last-minute sales all this week.

It's a good thing casinos have deep pockets as The Star forked out around $500,000 for the appearance of Al Pacino in Sydney. Kevin Spacey is said to be taking a fee of about $650,000 for his Richard III performance, while Stevie Wonder is rumoured to have picked up around $500,000 for his shows.

Such huge sums certainly put Kim Kardashian's $100,000 appearance fee for her trip to Sydney into perspective. Indeed, she was practically a bargain.

If people are reviewing the web tomorrow looking for shots and write ups of G arriving in Sydney, can I recommend the following news sites that will most likely have pictures and coverage.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Sydney tabloid newspaper - will definitely have coverage. They will be on full clooney watch / stalking whilst he is in town. He will be the lead story for the whole time he is in the country unless there is a major world news story that develops and even then, he most likely still will be the lead story.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Parent company of Sydney based Daily Telegraph. National news wesbite. Will cover. Will most likely just rehash what the Daily Telegraph writes.

Another newspaper. Focusing predominately on actual news and analysis but when a celeb of G's calibre comes to town, they will do some coverage. They will most likely cover the forum and people's perceptive of his speech than the soapy gossip stuff or who, what and where G is every single second.

Odd there are no pictures yet. Sydney airport is known to not support requests for backdoor exits so celebs can avoid the paps. They all usually have the walk the length of the terminal to leave the aiport. Maybe it is part of his contract and it was pre-negotiated.

He is staying at the Star City casino in Darling Harbour (near the convention centre) so pap shots could be limited. Info from Ten news report Video link on Youtube

Channel 7 showed him according to someone who watched the news. He is with John Predergast and looks like he has cut his hair. Should see a couple of pictures tomorrow.

Write up for tomorrow's paper

George Clooney flies into Sydney for three day stay without girlfriend Stacy Keibler
From:The Daily Telegraph December 11, 20119:05PM

HEY there Georgie boy!

Superstar George Clooney touched down in Sydney early yesterday and yes, he arrived solo for his brief visit with girlfriend Stacy Keibler nowhere in sight. The 32-year-old Keibler was, in fact, at Spike TV's Video Game Awards in Los Angeles.

The greying sex symbol arrived with minimal fuss, strolling through Sydney airport and chuckling at the attention he appeared to be generating before being greeted by an official-looking entourage who whisked him off to his suite at The Darling.

It's understood the actor, who has never visited Australia in any official capacity in the past, will stay in Sydney for just three days as part of his appearance at The Power of Collaboration summit today at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Oceans Eleven star and passionate humanitarian is expected to give a speech - for which guests have paid $1100 each to hear - about his aid work and the way he has used collaboration, negotiation and compromise. But guests should be warned to stay on topic should they have any questions for the actor who is notoriously prickly when it comes to discussing his romantic life.

Clooney famously humiliated a reporter during a press conference at this year's Toronto International Film Festival after being quizzed about his dating habits.

"I knew someone would do it," he replied. "I'm a little disappointed that it's you. Honestly. What's your name? Paul? Everyone remember that name.

"The hard-hitting interview by Paul. I think it's tremendous you asked the question, go back and tell your editor you asked the question."

Thanks laetval for pic. He sure does look happy and comfortable in his favorite jeans and leather jacket. I would prefer him with longer hair but then he forgot to get my approval with his hair style.
