This is great! It right to salute Carl Reiner! I loved The Dick Van Dyke Show!
And... that means George was in LA yesterday.

Thanks for posting, Silly Girl!

That was great silly girl. I started to watch from the beginning but was disappointed that they didn't show any of the clips they spoke of. Would have loved to see them, too.

They saved the best till last, of course. If you noticed, George was as usual the "consumate host". He made sure Rosemarie and all the others got on stage and made sure all were comfortable. He is by far the most gracious gentleman in a social situation.

I saw him on Access Hollywood today. He was at this event talking about Rosemary and her friends he’d chauffeur around. He's so cute and warm! Every time I see him smile or laugh, you know… the real ones… it makes me smile. Laughing

I loved the Dick Van Dyke show when I was a kid - always watched it. Recently I've noticed them on TVLand and have watched a few episodes. Still very funny! (Same as I Love Lucy - no matter how many times I've seen an episode it still makes me laugh).

Mensch means " a person of high integrity and honor". Yes, it is Yiddish and describes George so well.
I think it is only German because it was used often by German Jews.

At the end, he didn't just stand around and "wait" for everybody to come out, he went and got them. Especially Rosemarie. Made sure everybody had a place and made sure Rosemarie was right up front. He is one of the most gracious men I have ever seen and even when he's not the host, he makes sure everyone is comfortable and taken care of. I love you

That's what I thought, too! I would have to say, if I ever meet him, I will try to remember to tell him the nice things that people pick up on when watching him at these types of events! I love you

I tell myself "nnz, you need to get over George and get going"
Then I read things like this where he is so loving, caring and so genuine, it just amazes me. He really is a piece of work.

Can't stop admiring/loving the man!

He is priceless and essentially an "old fashioned Southern gentleman". I know his Momma must be proud of how she raised him (maybe not his womanizing, though).

I love Carl Reiner. This was a great tribute. You can tell that they genuinely care for each other. It was great to see how quickly he went to help everyone get on stage. He really is a Mensch.

Love CR too. Wish the video at start of thread had shown the clips that were shown to the audience. That was some great stuff which would bring back fastastic memories for an old broad like me! Dick Van Dyke Show, The Show of Shows, Caesar's Hour. This was really great TV. There is nothing today anywhere on TV that can compare. It was clean (okay, an occasional entendre), funny, so entertaining. It was incredible. Then go on to his movies, outrageous and outstanding. His talent should have been honored many years ago. Wish there was a talent today that could compare with Carl Reiner.
