Wonder what point this commercial is trying to make. OK George can drive, pull up to a restaurant and order a meal. These foreign car commercials don't even try to sell the car other than the fact that George can drive it.

Note to Mercedes people, no George does not come with the car.

Much nicer concept that American car ads. Who wants to hear about speed, noise control, and all the other technical junk that gets spouted in them. Much rather see a more romantic idea, divinely gorgeous man takes gorgeous woman to dinner in gorgeous car and let the imagination go from there.

Sorry if I sounded sarcastic. I'm a realist - if they wanted to sell me a car I'd like to know about its functionality. Although it was mighty nice to see George behind the wheel.

But Cindi, think about it. You see our MAN driving that car, so if you're the least bit interested in it, you'd go to the dealership and say "I want that Clooney car" and you could get all your info there.

I noticed in the car ad he reaches over and pulls the seat belt over with his right hand. He must have really long arms, I have to do that with my left hand, looking somewhat like a midget (little person).

In the Mercedes commercial the part I liked best was them dining al fresco with the restaurant lights. So romantic.

Doesn't look like a restaurant. To me it looks like a walk-up hot dog, hamburger or taco stand with picnic tables for seating. Just all jazzed up with lights.

Could be a hot dog stand or a burger joint. Read that George loves his burgers. He's mentioned "In and Out" quite a few times over the years.

I'm thinking the concept of the commercial "movie": expensive car, elegant dress, $$$$ restaurant except not a private date due to paps. Go to $ place to eat with an excellent view and no paps. People who drive a MB are comfortable anywhere.

Was it done in LA? We saw pictures of him on set I think it was. For someone hanging out with George she doesn't come across as being that happy. I thought they ended up at a hot dog place but then I noticed white tablecloths so I got a little confused. If it was Como they would show the lake it seemed more like a big city then there.

It was LA Dex. I think that It's Me said it reminded her of pics of Como. I think that they made it come across that even at a hot dog stand, you can have an elegant evening driving in a MB with George, alone, overlooking the city, etc... I need a cold shower...

Oh well that makes sense. Even with subtitles is confused me. LOL Not the greatest car commercial more a George commercial really.

Since it's not for here, Japan, if I 'member correctly, maybe that's the way they like it. A more subtle ad. Personally, I'd prefer some more subtle ads like that. I don't need all the technical stuff they throw at me. I can get that when I go to dealership. If I like the way the car looks in the ad, then I'll go to have a look-see and maybe a test drive and then salesman can give me all the details, just before he hits me with the bottom line price. That suggestion of a small George portrait as a give-away, might just be the detail that puts it over th top. Shows how interested I am in horsepower,cylinders, torque, suspension, etc.

Whew… would like to be that girl. I think I’d be a little more enthusiastic at the romantic spot though.

This advert is for China. For all we know she could be hugely famous in China (I couldn't be bothered to google it). Agreed there's nothing at all between them and she looks bored stupid but hey, that's what the ad men wanted I guess!

The only thing I find weird is that this isn't really selling the car so much as George Clooney and I don't think he's that famous in China. I wonder what the target market are going to think about this ad.

I was going to say China, too, because of the steering wheel, plus she didn't look Japanese to me. Who knows, maybe that's her normal look.

Edit to add: just loo at page 1 and the article did say China. The female co-star and steering wheel still gave it away. LOL!
